Airside Driving Permit ‘A’ The course has
been booked in for you, please arrive 5 mins before the scheduled start time. Target
Audience: All drivers applying for or renewing a
permit to drive airside at East Midlands Airport for use of Apron and Apron
Roads only (including maintenance area). Applicants need a full valid UK/EU ECC
drivers licence before attending this course.Objective: Understanding
of the apron road system, markings and layout and
operating vehicles safely at EMA in accordance with AOI 12. Methods: Classroom
instruction session including Power point presentation covering Airfield
Topography, Safe Working Practices including Health & Safety and Civil
Aviation regulations covering the Airfield, Accident and incident reporting
procedures, Emergency telephone numbers plus a familiarisation tour of the
apron and service roads. Drivers
must then sit a multiple choice exam to confirm that they have understood the
training for driving Airside with a pass mark of 45 out of 50.
Unsuccessful candidates cannot re-apply until 1 month has elapsed. Course
Details: The
classroom session and Airside familiarisation lasts approx. five hours in
total, including the online exam, which is 25 minutes in length. Please

Requirements On
initial application or 1st refresher after 45 (on a LGV
permit) a CAP 790 medical certificate or other authorised medical (as
stated in AOI 12 location here) will
be required. This must be dated within the last six months of course date, of
which your manager should view and sign the relevant part on the
application form to corroborate its validity. LGVFor
LGV upgrade at East Midlands Airport the following is required. Upon
initial application of your airside driving permit (A) and if you don’t have
the necessary classification on your driving licence then you will require a
class 2 medical before receiving an LGV competency form received after training
or by applying for with an LGV/PCV upgrade application form – located here: Training Documents
If
you already have classification C or D on your licence LGV can be applied to
your ADP A immediately. Please refer to AOI 12 section 3.5 for further
details.
