You are unique.From your anatomy to your history. Your Body, Your Mind, Your Yoga. Every Tuesday a Yoga practice for all levels, introducing the foundations of both Hatha and Yin. This 75 minute Yoga practice combines the two. Hatha Yoga (Yang) being the first half of the sequence and Yin Yoga as the second half. During the Hatha Yoga physical practice (Yang), Deborah will encourage practitioners to understand and notice the functional benefits and effects of how and why asana (postures) relates to our mind, body and breath. Yang yoga helps to develop muscular strength, stamina and is an active, warming practice. Yin Yoga (Yin) targets fascia, ligaments, joints, bones and tendons in the body, and consists of a series of passive floor postures held for up to five minutes. The hips, pelvis and spine are heavily ligamented areas and rich in Yin tissue. Yin Yoga can be a restorative/meditative practice, encouraging us to practice yoga mindfully, with awareness and openness on how our own body feels. Yoga props are very useful for targeting specific areas of our body. The aim of Yin Yoga is to slowly release tension and activate healing to bring balance and health back to the body. Engaging with a regular yoga practice, you will begin to learn how to notice, identify and resolve obstacles or issues in the body, from stiffness in the joints, weakness in the spine, digestive problems to inflammation, tiredness, symptoms of menopause and so many more. Fundamentally, Yoga is a healthcare system, and the long-term effects support a mode of living aimed to optimise our health throughout every stage of our lives. Ideally you will have some experience of Yoga and have your own mat, 1 yoga block, a yoga strap (a tie, scarf or dressing gown cord works just as well) a yoga pad or hard cushion (a rolled up bath towel works here too).
