EXPEDITION ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing tour, equipment check, final permit preparation.

Day 3: Preparation, and briefing at Ministry of Tourism.

Day 4: Fly Kathmandu to Lukla. Trek and overnight at Phakding.

Day 5: Trek to Namche Bazaar.

Day 6: Rest and acclimatisation in Namche Bazaar 3450m.

Day 7: Trek and overnight to Thyangboche.

Day 8: Trek and overnight to Dingboche.

Day 9-13: Acclimatisation hikes including seminar about high altitude acclimatisation at the hospital in nearby Pheriche, run by the Himalayan Rescue Association.

Day 14: Trek and overnight to Lobuje.

Day 15: Trek to Everest base camp.

Day 16-18: Rest and preparation.

Day 19-57: Climbing period for Everest. Our sherpas will stock higher camps and we will make several rotations in preparation for the summit window which is usually from mid May.

Day 58-62: Return trek to Namche Bazaar via Dingboche, Thyangboche, Namche and then Lukla.

Day 63: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu.

Day 64: Celebrations in Kathmandu.

Day 65: Final Departure.

EXPEDITION ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

Day 2-3: Your leader will brief you about the expedition, documentation, visa application, last minute shopping and preparation for the departure.

Day 4: Drive to Aarughat by private vehicle.

Day 5: Trek to Soti Khola (775m) 6 hrs. Following the Budhi Gandaki River toward the village of Morder and Simre.

Day 6: Trek to Machha Khola (900m) 5-6 hrs. We pass Almara and onwards to Riden Gaon. The valley here cuts into another side of the river to enter Budhi Gandaki. Then at Lambesi, the trail drops down to the sandy river bed of Budhi Gandaki.

Day 7: Trek to Jagat (1340m) 6 hrs. We head towards Dovan.

Day 8: Trek to Ngyak (2310m) 6 hrs. After ascending to the terraced hill of Saguleri a view of Sringi Himal (7177 m) can be seen. Then we continue towards Sirish Gaon.

Day 9: Trek to Ghap (2100m) 6 hrs.

Day 10: Trek to Lho (3200m) 6 hrs. After Namru we cross the Hinan river and continue on to Sho with a view of Naike peak, Manaslu north (7,774m) and Manaslu (8,163m) which are visible if weather is clear.

Day 11: Trek to Sama Village or Gaon (3500m) 6 hrs. The last village before BC.

Day 12: Rest Day at Sama Gaon for acclimatization.

Day 13: Trek Sama Gaon to Manaslu Base Camp. 4 hrs

Day 14-37: Climbing Period of Manaslu Expedition (8163m)

Ecuador Volcanoes 6130m

This is a mountaineering expedition to Ecuador, with the aim of climbing four volcanoes in the Ecuador. The highest is Chimborazo (6310m. We also climb the stunning crater of Cotopaxi (,897m) and Cayambe (5790m). As part of the acclimatisation we trek to Iliniza Norte still 5126m. This expedition is a great introduction to altitude mountaineering as it has 4 high peaks split by rest periods at hotels at lower altitudes.

Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador and technically the highest point from the centre of the earth (due to the Equatorial 'bulge') whilst Cotopaxi is one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. Ecuador volcanoes is longer and higher than the Kilimanjaro trip and also exposes you to techniques such as crampons, ice axes, moving together in a team on a rope etc. We spend several sessions practising these skills. Plus you experience 4 high altitude peaks in South America.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Fly to Quito at an altitude of 2,850m.

Day 2: Acclimatisation & City Tour

Day 3: Hike of Pasochoa (4,200m) returning to Quito for the night.

Day 4: Walk to Guagua Pichincha (4,787m) with overnight at an Ecuadorian hacienda.

Day 5: Ascent of Iliniza - hike to La Virgen Camp (4,000m)

Day 6: Iliniza Norte Summit Day (5,126m)

Day 7: Drive to Hacienda Guachala / Otavalo Market

Day 8: Drive to Cayambe, walk to the refuge (4,600m) Walk up to the start of the glacier (4,930m) to aid acclimatisation and practice crampon skills.

Day 9: Training and acclimatisation on Cayambe Glacier

Day 10: Climb Cayambe (5,790m)

Day 11: Drive to Cotopaxi National Park, night in Tambopaxi lodge (3,750m)

Day 12 - 13: Ascent of Cotopaxi (5,897m) from the hut at 4800m

Day 14: Drive to Urbina (3,500m) near Chimborazo

Day 15: Hike to Stübel Camp (5,050m)

Day 16: Summit Chimborazo (6,310m)

Day 17: Spare summit day for bad weather / return to Quito Overnight hotel.

Day 18 - 19: Depart Ecuador

Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe and one of the 7 Summits.

It is located in the beautiful Caucasus Mountains. On this expedition we climb the west and highest summit (5642m) of Elbrus. The South route is the most common ascent route offering more infrastructure and access to ski lifts and snow machines for carrying equipment and more developed mountain hut accommodation.

With an elevation of 5642 metres, Mt Elbrus is a volcanic mountain with rounded peaks and no steep gradients, but it is permanently snow covered and requires simple mountaineering skills such as using a walking on crampons and using a walking axe and clipping into a fixed line. These are skills we teach on the mountain and it is perfect for people who wish to gain ice and snow experience on a non-technical peak in a very interesting part of the world. Accommodation is in a local hotel in the village of Cheget. We acclimatise for three days hiking in the surrounding hills before going on the mountain for a total of six days staying in mountain huts (rooms sleep up to six). This allows for excellent acclimatisation and two possible summit days.

EXPEDITION ITINERARY Itinerary:

Day 1. Meeting at Mineralnye Vody airport at 14:00. The bus ride is about 3 hours to our first stop and we overnight at hotel (2100m).

Day 2. Acclimatization walk along the Terskol gorge to the Terskol waterfall (2500m). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3. Acclimatization hike up to cable car stations Cheget-2 (2750m) or Cheget-3 (3000 m).

Day 4. Acclimatization hike up to Waterfall Devichi Kosy (2800m) and Terskol Peak Observatory (3127m). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5. Move to the mountain hotel located at an altitude of 3000m. After lunch, we will make an acclimatization climb to the the highest cable car station in Europe Gara-Bashi (3847m) or to the Mir station (3455m).

Day 6. We move to 3830m near Gara-Bashi station. Acclimatization hike to Pastukhov rocks (4800m).

Day 7. Rest day at 3830m. Crampon, ice axe practice and preparation. Day 8. Summit day. For most groups, the ascent to the Elbrus' west summit, 5642m is 7-9 hours.

Day 9. Reserve summit

Day 10. Transfer to Mineralnye Vody Airport/

What the price does not include 

International Flight to Mineralnye Vody. Riding snow-cat (ratrak, a vehicle transporting people up the snow slopes). The exact cost depends on altitude of ascent: up to 4700 m it costs €700, up to 5000 м - €1000 per vehicle. Basic capacity of the snowcat is 12 people, including 3 guides who don't pay. You also can hire a snow-cat on your way down and this will be cheaper than on the way up. This course will equip you with the skills required to become a confident team member of a high altitude expedition within a commercial environment.

We always recommend at least an initial 5 day course which can be both an introduction and a refresher for those planning on climbing or trekking in places such as Nepal, Pakistan, Argentina, Russia, Tanzania, Kenya, Alaska on peaks such as Kilimanjaro, Island Peak, Peak Korzhenevskaya, Aconcagua and higher mountains.

 All 5 days are spent in the mountains with objectives and routes selected accordingly.

The course is conducted using Font Romeu as a base. We are located only 2 hours from Barcelona airport and at a high altitude centre in the French Pyrenees. The courses take place during the months December to March to ensure snowy and icy conditions.

We can also offer courses from Benasque in the Spanish Pyrenees and Gavarnie on the French Pyrenees for those wanting to venture further afield.
