Our custom insole appointment is a 45 minute appointment with one of our professional boot fitters, we will make a pair of Sidas Custom Insoles for your ski boots and explain more about how they will help your skiing. 

The charge for this service is £180 which includes the cost of the footbeds.

If you are booking a boot fitting appointment you do not need to make an additional insole appointment.

Most ski boot issues come from the foot being insufficiently supported inside the boot. This movement can be uncomfortable and cause pain, discomfort and tiredness. This is why a fully custom insole is such an important part of your equipment. 

What happens during the fitting appointment?

We will begin with an initial assessment which involves getting to know you and your experiences with skiing and ski boots. We will then carry out an in-depth assessment of your feet and their biometrics. With this knowledge we can then advise you on the best insole to go for.

Once we have carried out the initial assessment we will then begin by making a vacuum print of your feet using the Sidas custom foot plates. These are large blue malleable vacuum pads that can take an exact print of your foot.

Whilst this is happening we will be heating up your chosen insoles in the Sidas insole oven. This is a flat glass oven that gently heats the insoles to make them soft and pliable ready to place into your foot moulds. Once the insoles have been in the oven for approximately 6 minutes they will be carefully placed into the vacuum pads and you will be asked to stand back on top of the pads and move into your ski stance.

The insoles will take to the mould of your foot very quickly so the boot fitter will soon ask for you to sit back and remove your feet from the pads once more.

The boot fitter will know at this point if there is any additional support needed around your heal or the arch of your foot. If this is necessary they will add on these extra sections at this point in the process. They will then trim the insole to fit your boot perfectly and finish it on a grinding wheel to ensure all the edges are smooth.

You now have a pair of fully Custom Insoles which will hug the shape of your foot completely, providing the best possible well-being and maximum shock absorption.

Our ski boot modification appointments are for people who have purchased their boots from Ski Bartlett and are requiring some adjustments to be made. 

These adjustments could include heat moulding the inner boot, making any adjustments to the buckles, cuff alignment, canting and stretching the outer shell. It may also be beneficial to go for a custom footbed as most ski boot issues come from the foot being insufficiently supported inside the boot. If a custom footbed is required there would be an additional cost of between £40 and £125 depending on your requirements and the insole chosen.

Please ensure you bring a face mask to wear during your visit to the shop. We also recommend wearing a loose pair of trousers that can be easily pulled up over your knee and your ski boots and ski socks.

If on the very rare occasion we are unable to find the right ski boot for you, your £25.00 fee will be refunded.

Our Ski Bartlett Race Ski Boot Fitting Appointment is a comprehensive, 1 hour 45 minute service designed to optimize your performance on the slopes. Our professional boot fitters will assess your feet and biometrics to select the perfect race boot for you. We offer a range of boots suited to your foot shape and ability, ensuring a snug fit that enhances comfort and support. With additional customization options such as custom footbeds and liner molding, we guarantee a personalized fit. Our boot fitting service is a 1 hour 45 minute boot fitting appointment with one of our professional boot fitters and gives enough time for custom insoles if needed.

If the appointment is cancelled with 48 hours notice the fitting fee is refundable.

What happens during a ski boot fitting?

We will begin with an initial assessment which involves getting to know you and your experiences with skiing and ski boots. We will then carry out an in-depth assessment of your feet and their biometrics to help us choose the right boots for you.

We will then bring out a selection of boots that are best suited to your foot shape and ability. Ski boots will always feel snug when you first put them on but don't let this put you off, we will recommend keeping each pair on for around 10-15 minutes. This will allow the liners to soften and give you a better idea of how they are going to feel over time.

Once we have found the right pair of boots for you we will begin the custom fitting process. 

Most ski boot issues come from the foot being insufficiently supported inside the boot. This movement can be uncomfortable and cause pain, discomfort and tiredness. If at this point you or the boot fitter believe it would be beneficial to go for a pair of  custom footbeds you will have the opportunity to add these onto your purchase.

After getting your footbeds ready we may begin the process of moulding the inner liner of your ski boots.  All the boots we sell come with a heat mouldable inner liners and having these moulded to your feet can a big difference in their overall fit. The boot liners will go into a hot air oven for around 15 minutes, this makes the liner soft and pliable. You will then be asked to put the boots on and stand in your ski position for a further 15 minutes whilst the liner cools. This process will ensure that the liner moulds fully around your foot giving you support and comfort.

The final part of your boot fit will involve any minor tweaks that may be needed to the outer shell of the ski boot. This will include moving buckles, cuff alignment and canting depending what is needed for you.

Once everything is completed with your ski boot fitting the boot fitter will run through some very important information with you. This includes how to do up your boots correctly in-line with the manufacturers recommendations, after care, ski boot storage, bedding in your boots and any additional items you might need. These could include boot warmers, boot dryers, boot bags and traction covers.

This service is £20.00 charged at the time of booking. This does not include the Ski Bartlett Fit Guarantee as overall condition is not always the same as boots age.

This gives us important detail to ensure you can get the most out of your boots and your ski holidays. Once we have completed the checks, additional parts may be required to improve the condition and performance of your boots. We carry a lot of spare parts that can be replaced on the day, but we may be required to order additional parts in from suppliers.

Once we have completed the Ski Boot MOT and replaced any required parts, you can be sure that your ski boots will be in prime condition for you to rip around the mountain all day knowing it’s not your boots holding you back.

With this knowledge we can then look at the boots you have purchased elsewhere and check they are going to be suitable for you.

This boot fitting includes 1 boot stretch if required, heat moulding the inner boot and making any adjustments needed to the buckles, cuff alignment and canting.

If you are having problems with the boots it may be that they aren't the right boot for you or that you need a custom insole to further support your foot. Most ski boot issues come from the foot being insufficiently supported inside the boot. This movement can be uncomfortable and cause pain, discomfort and tiredness. If you or the boot fitter believe it would be beneficial to go for a custom footbed there would be an additional cost of between £40 and £145 depending on your requirements and the insole chosen.

After getting your footbeds ready we will begin the process of moulding the inner liner of your ski boots (if they are heat mouldable). The boot liners will go into a hot air oven for around 15 minutes, this makes the liner soft and pliable.
