This calligraphy course focuses on the Kai Shu (regular script) style, which is considered the most important and formal style of Chinese calligraphy. Taught by Mr. Ma Shuanglu and Mr. Lin Wei, students will learn brush techniques, stroke order, and composition, while gaining an appreciation for the beauty and cultural significance of Kai Shu. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in this style of calligraphy.

Xiao Kai (小楷) is a refined style of Chinese calligraphy with delicate strokes, balanced layout, and subtle line variations. It is used for copying religious texts, literary works, official documents, and creating calligraphy artworks. Through Ms. Sun Qian's course, students will learn Xiao Kai's unique features and cultural significance.

"篆隶筑基" is an introductory calligraphy course designed for adults with zero experience. Taught by Ms. Sun Qian, the course focuses on two beginner-friendly scripts: seal script (篆书) and clerical script (隶书). Both styles feature simplified strokes, clear structure, and easy-to-recognize characters, making them perfect for novice learners. Through this course, students will learn the basics of each script, including brushwork, stroke order, and composition, and be able to write simple characters and phrases in both styles. By the end of the course, they will have a solid foundation in Chinese calligraphy and develop a deeper appreciation for its beauty and cultural significance.

Ele will review Mid-Year BSC results for the 2019-2020 school year with individual affiliates to provide advice on how to maximize performance on the final June BSC. Time for questions and answers is also included.
