This is one of the pillars in building confidence in the subject. The session will go a little like this...Bring one math topic/area/question of your choice from school or study that is of concern and I demonstrate my teaching approach. From this session I can gauge the student's mindset, their confidence level with me, strengths and weaknesses in basic math operations. Please note, the most important part of this exercise is not necessarily the difficulty in the math question and the child's approach, as this is what I am here to improve in the first place. The main purpose is to detect whether the student believes and trusts that I can help them. For example, are they confident to confide in me that they do not understand something even repeatedly? Do they trust me enough to say they got it wrong or got a low mark? In such cases, all that is needed is more time in developing a good relationship which is possible with consistency. Either way this exercise will provide as a useful tool for you to decide if I am the right fit for you.
