Assim, abre-se a oportunidade para o médico discutir com o casal os riscos e possíveis intervenções que devem ser feitas para prevenir resultado adverso.Durante o pré-natal recomenda-se que seja oferecido a todas as mulheres o rastreamento de aneuploidias antes da 20ª semana e elas podem optar por métodos de rastreio e/ou de diagnóstico invasivo(biópsia de vilo corial ou amniocentese). Com base no resultado desses exames, assim como da ultrassonografia morfológica, o obstetra deve aconselhar de forma imparcial e discutir as opções existentes com seus pacientes.
