This one-time orientation is for current members only -- please only sign up for an orientation if you are a current member of Past Lives. Orientations are usually 2 hours, depending on your shop experience. If you need help or instruction beyond the scheduled appointment, you can make arrangements on a case-by-case basis with your orientation contact. The cost is $25/hr. The full cost will be charged at the time of booking, and if the orientation takes less time you will be refunded for the difference.This orientation is a required introduction to the 60W Epilog laser engraver and accompanying drive computer located on the first floor. This machine is ideal for engraving acrylic, anodized aluminum, painted brass, glass, delrin and other plastics, rubber, wood, and paper, and can also optionally cut acrylic, plastics, rubber, wood, and paper. It has a 18” by 24” work surface and maximum Z axis travel of 11”. The orientation will cover necessary tool maintenance steps before beginning your project, how to generate and set up your file, and how to run and optimize the laser for your specific task. If you have a file or project idea in mind, bring whatever existing project files or materials you would like to discuss. A sample file will be used to practice, and we can go over any questions or quirks related to your project goals.
