PCR test results are provided within 1 business day. Tests are conducted onsite and diagnostics must be performed at a lab facility. If unsure, select the Full Free Covid Testing option. PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) TestingIn PCR testing, reverse transcriptase or DNA polymerase are introduced to a nasopharyngeal sample. These chemicals act by duplicating any viral RNA that may be present. It ensures that enough copies of the RNA are present to provide a positive result since specially designed primers and probes bind to regions of the virus's genetic code to indicate the presence of a pathogen. We can tell who has been contaminated, thanks to PCR.
