The Cypress Hills Dark Sky Preserve offers students a look deep into the amazing night sky from the classroom at the Observatory. Using telescopes, binoculars, constellation tours and stories, students learn the wonders of the night sky and the importance of darkness to the natural world. Dress warm, including a warm jacket, hat and gloves. Throughout history, the Cypress Hills have gone by many names, including "The Thunder Breeding Hills", as it was believed to be a place where the weather came from. These hills have had a long human history, beginning over 8,000 years ago. Students will learn about cultural connections for Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples on this guided hike.  Location: Windfall Trail Duration: 1.25 hours Suggested Curriculum: PE6-9, DR6, IN6, RW7, DR8-9, W3, Native Studies10-30, PE20-30, Treaty Education: HC7, TPP8Booking Tips: If booking larger groups, we recommend dividing your class into smaller groups and booking multiple programs at the same time.
