This course, led by Tim Woodhouse of Tiptoes Child Therapy Service, will take place over 3 consecutive days, from Thursday 27th November to Saturday 29th November 2025. The training will consist of an equal mix of theory and experiential exercises.Key Areas of Focus  Therapist Confidence Across Developmental Stages Understanding chronological vs developmental age. Adapting methods for 5–13s and for 13–17s. Safety, Trust, and Boundaries in Practice How these concepts are built, maintained, and repaired in the room. Role of relational safety in creative and verbal interventions. Theory into Practice Applied attachment theory and polyvagal theory. Psychodynamic formulations to guide intervention choice. Being confident in the purpose of resources. Therapeutic Methods & Creative Practice Transition from play to therapeutic play. Creative, symbolic, behavioural, cognitive, and psychoeducational strategies. Challenging Fixed Ideas of Therapy What therapy can look like beyond talking. Self-reflection: “What am I doing, why, and how is it helpful?” Referral Parameters & Case Planning When to accept or decline referrals. When to stop work and how to manage endings.Making the best use of a time-limited framework (e.g. robust assessment vs full programme).Tim has worked with children and families since 1984 and specifically in the field of sexual harm (sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, children who sexually harm children and child sexual exploitation) since 1996. He is an advanced and certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, Enactive trauma therapist, registered Non-directive Play therapist, Filial therapist, EMDR Practitioner, Jungian and Integrative sand play therapist, an ABE approved Social Worker and is currently studying Internal Family Systems Therapy. Tim is also trained in BUSS Level 1, (Building Underdeveloped Sensory Motor Systems) and AIM3 – (Assessment, Intervention and Moving on). He worked on the NSPCC child sexual abuse consultancy for 16 years where he co-founded the Hilton House attachment project and the St. Mary’s children’s sexual assault referral centre in Manchester, was an investigator on the Waterhouse inquiry and vice chair of BAPT. He was principal tutor on the Liverpool Hope MA course in play therapy and is a visiting lecturer to Manchester Universities 2nd and 3rd Year MA social work programme. He is the Founder and CEO of Tiptoes Child Therapy Service, a provision for children and families affected by sexual harm and developmental trauma launched in 2010. He is a published author, keynote speaker, consultant, trainer, clinical supervisor, provider of clinical governance and has been a governmental advisor on several research programmes.Training will take place at CRASAC's offices in Coventry. The impacts of sexual violence can be lifelong and life limiting if not recognised and supported. The normal responses to SV are often misdiagnosed and mistreated.  This session will explain what sexual violence is, how it impacts a person both mentally and physically, and myth bust some of the damaging messages that exist about sexual violence.This training will take place online via Microsoft Teams. INTRODUCTORY OFFER: full day training only £100pp for a limited time! This course provides an overview of sexual violence and what it means, some of the key national statistics, prevalence, myths and stereotypes, legal and media representations, and barriers to reporting. It will examine the physical and emotional impact on victims and survivors, explore ways to handle disclosures and reinforce the importance of a trauma-informed approach.The training is ideal for anyone who already has a basic knowledge of trauma through their field of work and may come into contact with people who have been subjected to sexual violence and abuse or harassment. This can include healthcare professionals, social workers, benefit, welfare and housing staff, youth workers, education staff, therapists and counsellors, legal and court staff, police officers, voluntary sector workers, prison service staff.The training is an engaging and interactive opportunity to learn from frontline experts on the prevalence and realities of sexual violence in society today. By the end of the course you will:Understand the definition of sexual violence, types of sexual violence and child sexual abuseBe aware of the prevalence of sexual violence and abuseBe able to dispel the myths and misinformation around sexual violenceUnderstand how sexist and misogynistic behaviour feeds into rape cultureUnderstand the reporting processes and criminal justice system for those subjected to sexual violence and abuseKnow the common impacts of sexual violenceBe aware of the physical and emotional impact on victims and survivorsKnow how to handle disclosures in a trauma-informed wayPlease be aware that some of the course content may be distressing or triggering.This is a full day course.
