Silmaarst ei teosta optikapoes ravi ega ei osuta terviseabi, vaid tegeleb nägemise uurimise ja prillide määramisega. Visiit silmaarsti juurde toimub tasulise teenusena vastavalt hinnakirjale ning Haigekassa seda ei kompenseeri.
