About the company
Book studio space, time in the glaze kitchen, kiln firings and classes.Kil.n.it studios are located at The Nurses' Quarters, 184 Glebe Point Rd, Glebe 2037. Carpark entry via Wigram Lane. It is a 24 hour accessible, shared space featuring a workshop with hand building and wheel throwing stations, a glaze kitchen and 3 electric kilns. Staffed hours are shown on the right.
Kil.n.it classroom is located in the basement of Glebe Town Hall, 160 St John's Road, Glebe 2037. Direct entry via Mount Vernon St. A range of classes are taught by practicing artists.
Kil.n.it is a not-for-profit creative space proudly supported by the City of Sydney's Accommodation Grants program.

-You must be a member to use our shared workshop, glaze kitchen and kilns.

What is the process?
Ceramics need to be fired twice. The first firing is called 'Bisque' and the second is the glaze firing.
After you have booked, please come and drop your work at Kilnit. We will contact you when your work is ready for collection!
Glazing:
If you would like like to do your own glazing, you are more than welcome! Please purchase your own glaze, making sure to be buy the right glaze for the correct firing temperature. We recommend buying a mid-fire glaze that can go to 1220 degrees celsius or cone 6. Please book your work into a bisque and mid-fire glaze firing via our regular firing service channels on this website. Cost wise this will be the cheaper.
Please allow up to 4 weeks for your work to be complete.

Induction
Use our wheels, slab roller, extruder and benches to create your work in our workshop. Each booking entitles one person to use one wheel and one bench. Please time your stay to include set up and pack up within allotted time.
We run inductions Monday to Friday between business hours 10am - 4pm.If you cannot make it between these hours, we can organise an after hours induction at an increased rate,
Please contact us at hello@kil-n-it.com to enquire about your induction and membership! Please suggest a date and time that would work for you, and we can check availability.
The induction itself is a one off fee of $30, and it runs for approximately 30-45 minutes.
These can be paid on arrival with either cash or card.

This is a hands on introduction to making ceramic forms with your most familiar tools: your hands. Explore a variety of clay techniques including pinching, slab building, coil building, interior supports, marbling, the pottery wheel and most importantly strong joining. Hand-building with clay is a technique that has been used since the earliest ages of man and is a popular way of making much contemporary art today. There is no limit to what you can make with clay!
