All users of the room need to be trained before signing up for room time. Training is usually every 2nd Sunday of the month, but that can change so click the link to see which day is available for each month.

Special Haven Multi Sensory Room
Special Haven is a Non-Profit Corporation providing a multi-sensory environment for the benefit and development of children and adults with Special Needs. Multi-Sensory environments have been shown to help individuals with autism, brain injury, challenging behaviors, dementia, developmental disabilities, mental illness, palliative care, pre and post-surgery, PTSD and special education, some apparatus has vibroaccoustic effects to particularly benefit children and adults with hearing impairment. The room aims to maximize a person’s potential to focus and then initiate and react in a meaningful, productive way to situations, things, and people in their environment. A multi-sensory environment can be instrumental in changing behavior, increasing focus and attention and adding to the feelings of positive self-esteem and well-being, but most of all Special Haven is an oasis of calm and a safe place to have fun. PLEASE NOTE YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE SPECIAL HAVEN TRAINING BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT IN THE ROOM. THE TRAINING WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO USE THE ROOM TO ITS FULLEST POTENTIAL AND SO IS ESSENTIAL BEFORE YOU BRING YOUR CHILD TO THE ROOM. Special Haven Training
Each month Special Haven provide a free training for parents, carers, teachers, therapists infact anyone wishing to know more about the multi sensory room and how to use it correctly. The trainings are held at Special Havens home 215 G Street, Antioch and are facilitated by Michael Worley and Jude Byrne who are both Special Haven Board members. The training will consist of a short meet and greet followed by a 20 minute informative video about the need for multi sensory rooms with following discussion. The last hour of the session will be hands on training in the multi sensory room. In order to ensure the room is used correctly and to its fullest advantage the room can only be booked by a facilitator with a proof of training card. This card must be shown at time of room use.
