****PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A PRIVATE NON-NHS SERVICE AND AS SUCH IS PAID FOR BY THE PATIENT**** This service is for any patient over 12 years of age who wishes to pay privately for the COVID vaccination*. We will administer the Pfizer Comirnaty Omicron XBB.1.5 injection which is the latest vaccine available and is the same one being used within the NHS during the current campaign. The vaccine will cost £70. *Patients over 75 years of age or certain patients under 75 years who are immunosuppressed are eligible for a free vaccination under the NHS campaigns which run seasonally. Please check with the pharmacy as we also offer NHS vaccinations for eligible patients, these are booked via the NHS.

Eligibility of free NHS check: Adults who are 40 years old or over, who do not have a current diagnosis of high blood pressure; Patients, by exception, under the age of 40 who request the service because they have a recognised family history of high blood pressure may be provided the service at the pharmacist’s discretion Blood pressure is important because the higher your blood pressure is, the higher your risk of health problems in the future. Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications Did you know that as many as five million people are undiagnosed with high blood pressure in the UK? High blood pressure causes strain on your blood vessels, which can lead to the narrowing of the vessels, blood clots and an increased risk of heart disease. If your blood pressure is high, it is putting extra strain on your arteries and on your heart. Over time, this strain can cause the arteries to become thicker and less flexible, or to become weaker. If your arteries become thicker and less flexible, they will become more narrow, making them more likely to become clogged up. If an artery becomes completely clogged up (known as a clot), this can lead to a heart attack, a stroke, kidney disease or dementia. More rarely, if an artery has become weakened, the extra strain may eventually lead to the artery bursting. This may also cause a heart attack or stroke. The good news is that there are many ways in which you can lower your blood pressure and put less strain on your arteries and heart. Our trained staff can check your blood pressure in our private consultation area. Knowing your numbers will help see if any lifestyle modification are required. If the following describes your lifestyle you may be at risk: • Eating too much salt • Not eating enough fruit and vegetables • Not taking enough exercise • Being overweight • Drinking too much alcohol Checking your blood pressure is quick, easy and non-invasive and can be done by our trained staff, our test will also screen for atrial fibrillation..
