This maxim encapsulates the pedagogical philosophies of many writing centers - while we do want to assist you on the particular paper or project you bring to your appointment, our goal is not to make "quick fixes"; rather, we want to help you address bigger-picture issues and inform you of strategies you can apply to future work.For your appointment, please bring a paper copy and/or a laptop with an MSWord file of your work. Be sure to have specific questions or concerns you would like to discuss. During the appointment, we can discuss some lower-order concerns (e.g., grammar, punctuation, sentence structure), but we will mostly cover higher-order concerns (e.g., outline, organization, development, register, audience awareness).
