Working with clay is mesmerizing - and challenging - After a tour of the studio, guests will don aprons and sit down at their own wheels to "throw" pottery. We work "hands-on," with each person to insure that you make up to 5 beautiful vessels. If you decide that you want to "finish" your pieces, there are 4 more steps: trimming, bisqueing, glazing and high-firing. The process takes about a month, and the potters at FIRESTICK will do this work for you for a fee of $15 per piece. This price includes a glazing class, if you'd like to come back within 3 months, or you may select your colors and we'll glaze for you. After that, we can ship your pottery anywhere in the country.HAND-BUILDING and SCULPTING - Some guests (especially kids under 8) might prefer "handbuilding," rather than the wheel." Shiatsu can deepen the connection with your body and support processes of self-regulation and resilience through its effects on the parasympathetic nervous system. I support these processes by combining Shiatsu with traumasensitive approaches and somatic work. Shiatsu is performed while lying on a futon or lounger wearing light sports clothing.

Through intuitive touch, deep tissue work and joint mobilization, the nervous system is regulated and a sense of grounding settles in. When the body is relaxed, it allows physical, emotional and/or energetic blockages to release. I sometimes involve elements from the Rebalancing® method - a form of structural integration therapy that involves fascia work, conscious breath and body awareness practices.
