Working with clay is mesmerizing - and challenging - After a tour of the studio, guests will don aprons and sit down at their own wheels to "throw" pottery. We work "hands-on," with each person to insure that you make up to 5 beautiful vessels. If you decide that you want to "finish" your pieces, there are 4 more steps: trimming, bisqueing, glazing and high-firing. The process takes about a month, and the potters at FIRESTICK will do this work for you for a fee of $15 per piece. This price includes a glazing class, if you'd like to come back within 3 months, or you may select your colors and we'll glaze for you. After that, we can ship your pottery anywhere in the country.HAND-BUILDING and SCULPTING - Some guests (especially kids under 8) might prefer "handbuilding," rather than the wheel." If you'd like a teacher to work with you or your kids on hand-building, please let us know in advance.
