Durante el proceso, la patóloga del habla-lenguaje realizará observaciones clínicas a través del juego dirigido, verificará el mecanismo oral-motor, administrará pruebas estandarizadas (de ser posible) y tareas de criterio para identificar las fortalezas y necesidades en las áreas de pre-requisitos lingüísticos, desarrollo fonético-fonológico, articulación, voz, fluidez, comunicación social, comprensión, expresión del lenguaje y/o lectoescritura. Posteriormente tabulará las respuestas, analizará los resultados y redactará un informe de evaluación formal. El mismo incluirá todos los hallazgos y recomendaciones que se discutirán con los encargados. De recomendarse el servicio terapéutico, podrían discutirse aspectos de itinerario y disponibilidad en esa reunión. 

La evaluación tendrá una validez de un (1) año. Luego de ese periodo se requerirá una re-evaluación.  

La cita de consulta, orientación o cernimiento es servicio de aproximadamente 45 a 60 minutos. 

Orientación y/o Consulta: Cita con el profesional de la salud para discutir detalles de un caso, aclarar dudas, solicitar información adicional y/o contactos. 

Cernimiento: Instrumento que sera completado por una Patóloga o Terapeuta del Habla-Lenguaje por medio de observaciones clínicas, tareas simples y el uso de una escala de desarrollo. El propósito del mismo es descartar la presencia de algún rezago o dificultad en el área de la comunicación. Servirá para orienta a padres y maestras, pero no constituye una evaluación en las áreas de habla y lenguaje. 

La Terapia del Habla-Lenguaje es la intervención directa y tratamiento para reducir las dificultades en la producción de sonidos, trastornos de la voz, la pobre fluidez al hablar, los problemas en la comprensión del lenguaje, las limitaciones en el vocabulario, los retos para procesar o entender el lenguaje, y también las dificultades para utilizar el lenguaje de forma social.

Para poder comenzar a recibir terapias, el estudiante tiene que haber sido evaluado por nuestras profesionales o haber sido evaluado por otra(o) Patóloga(o) del Habla-Lenguaje licenciada hace un año o menos.  No se aceptarán evaluaciones realizadas hace más de un año.  La duración, frecuencia y modalidad de las terapias serán determinadas en la evaluación del estudiante, según su diagnóstico, recomendaciones, fortalezas y necesidades.
