Occupational Therapist

Katie Sams graduated from Thomas Jefferson University with a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2006. Throughout her career as an OT since, she has dedicated her practice to pediatrics within a variety of venues including a pediatric rehabilitation hospital, homes/natural learning environments, and school-based settings. She specializes in working with children with a complex medical history, including traumatic brain injuries, developmental delays, and difficulties with fine motor and motor planning.  Katie loves spending time at the beach and being with her family, friends, and pup Archie. 

Developmental Therapist

Born and raised in Pinellas County, Rachael Cano’s interest in educating young children and their families was honed through coaching gymnastics, volunteering at All Children’s Hospital, and serving as a water safety and swim instructor. Rachael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health with a minor in Communications from the University of South Florida in 2018. Her prior credentials include Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (2022) and Registered Behavior Technician (2016). Rachael currently serves as an Infant Toddler Development Specialist with Unlimited Pediatric Therapy, helping families of children with disabilities to better understand their development and support their potential. 

Speech Language Pathologist

Alex Miele is an ASHA certified and Florida licensed speech language pathologist. Since 2015, she has been working with children with developmental delays in a variety of environments, including schools, clinics, and home health. Alex grew up in San Diego, attended college in Santa Barbara, and went to graduate school in Oregon. She then moved to the Tampa area and has been working in early intervention here since 2018. Alex specializes in early language development, and she enjoys collaborating with families to help their child learn to communicate within their natural environment. She enjoys singing, laughing, and playing and is grateful for a career that allows her to help families learn new ways to help their kiddos grow! She lives with her husband and their goldendoodle, Finley, in Saint Petersburg. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting friends and family, spending time at the dog park, and doing yoga.

Occupational Therapist

Rachel Rivera has a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education with a minor in Psychology. Rachel loves supporting children with sensory processing differences (and their families!) and using movement to maintain good physical and mental health. In her free time, Rachel enjoys any and all outdoor activities, especially running and paddle boarding, in addition to reading and listening to country music.

Developmental Therapist

Rachel Hennessy has been working in Early Intervention since 2010 and with young children for even longer. She grew up in Tampa, FL before moving to Chicago in 2002, where she started her career. She grew up surrounded by the arts of all types and attended an arts-intensive high school prior to moving to Chicago and earning a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago, minoring in child and family psychology, and later a Master of Social Work from DePaul University prior to moving back to the Tampa area in 2016. Since beginning her career in Early Intervention, Rachel has worked intensively with young children with disabilities and their families in multiple roles within Early Intervention. Rachel currently lives in St. Petersburg, FL with her husband and two children (as well as their Great Dane and cat). She spends her free time with her family as well as reading and creating.

Developmental Therapist

Originally from Queens, New York, Sylvia Guerrero holds a Masters in Early Childhood Development, Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University. As a developmental therapist, Sylvia believes children learn best through play and a creative curriculum. As a child, Sylvia lived in Colombia and became bilingual and bicultural. Later, she served as a Director of Pine Village Preschool, a Spanish Immersion school that focused on developing Spanish language and social emotional skills. Sylvia enjoys bringing language and new experiences to children and feels a child must first feel safe, connected, and loved to achieve any goal. During her free time, Sylvia likes to go for nature walks, explore the area, and cook.

Terapeuta de Desarollo

Nacida en en Queens, New York, Sylvia Guerrero sostiene una Maestría en Desarrollo de Educación Temprana y Creatividad Educativa en la Universidad Lesley. Como terapeuta de desarrollo, Sylvia cree en la filosofía que los niños aprenden mejor a través del juego y un plan curricular basado en creatividad.  De niña, Sylvia vivió en Colombia en donde se convirtió en bilingüe y bi-cultural.  En el pasado, fue directora en el Preescolar de inmersión en Español,  Pine Village Preschool. Ahí se enfocó en enseñar el lenguaje de Español y también trabajar en temas de crecimientos socio-emocionales de los niños.  Sylvia, disfruta de enseñar en español y de introducir nuevas experiencias a los niños.  Ella siente que los niños pueden llegar a sus metas cuando primero se sienten seguros, conectados y queridos.  En sus tiempo libre, a Sylvia le gusta hacer caminatas por la naturaleza, explorar nuevos lugares y cocinar.

Founder, Developmental Therapist

Rachael Somerman is the founder and owner of Unlimited Pediatric Therapy. She has served as a Florida state credentialed Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist for nearly a decade, and she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and Family Studies from Eastern Kentucky University. Throughout her career, Rachael has experienced firsthand the dire need for high-quality therapeutic services for children with a spectrum of challenges. Observing this service gap served as the catalyst for Rachael to create her own company, Unlimited Pediatric Therapy, to address the therapeutic needs of this cohort of kiddos. Over the years as the company has flourished, once again Rachael identified an unmet need – a community hub for classes, play, and support for children with disabilities and their families, and The Barn by UPT was born.  While away from work Rachael enjoys traveling, anything related to the beach or water and spending time with her two pups Charlee and Konrad.
