This CDC, Bright from the Start approved training is a class where participants will learn about their role in monitoring children's development, understanding developmental milestones, objective and engaged developmental monitoring, how to talk with parents about their child's development, and what resources are avaiable in GA when there are concerns about a child's development.

This training will guide participants through the process of communicating effectively to and with early learners in addition to helping participants understand how communication aids in the overall development of early learners. The goal is to help participants understand how to effectively communicate with early learners, self awareness of their communication style and how to improve their communication techniques and strategies when interacting with early learners.

In this parenting class, the facilitator will introduce Positive Discipline to participants and help them to develop a better understanding of how Positive Disciple works when implemented and why it is essential when interacting with their children. This course looks at stress and distress behaviours, particularly associated with dementia. Students will learn to understand that when a person is expressing stress and distress they can be communicating unmet needs. They will learn to identify the common types, causes and triggers for distressed behaviour, contribute to recording and understanding distressed behaviours using an antecedent, behaviour and consequences approach. They will be able to describe how to respond when a person with dementia is expressing stress and distress and recognise the importance of gaining access to professional support and interventions to alleviate stress and distress.

This course is a practical, service-based, competency assessment. The trainer will assess staff (up to 10 people per day) using the equipment within the service, and assess each person's knowledge around legislation and best practice for Moving and Handling. Each person will be assessed individually by the trainer. Assessing on-site in this way ensures students are comfortable with the equipment they are using day-to-day, in the environment they are already working in, so that they will carry on best practice manoeuvres at work. 

Study of children’s development from pre birth to adulthood, looking at the aspects of development, social, physical, emotional, cognitive and language in children and how these develop as children grow. 

This course will support practitioners to learn a range of different play types that can be used to support children’s development.
