Eligibility and Compliance (E&C) Check Booking GuidelinesChanges to E&C Checks in 2026Research Grants has introduced a new triaging model for the approval and submission of research grant applications. The new model categorises applications into one of two Tiers - Tier A or Tier B. From January 2026, the Research Grants team will only offer Eligibility and Compliance checks on applications which fall under Tier A. You can read more about what makes an application Tier A here… Bookings for a major ARC or NHMRC scheme can only be made under the corresponding scheme tile – they cannot be made in ‘External Grants’.For MRFF schemes - please check the E&C Check booking period for your scheme by clicking the Read More button on the MRFF Opportunities tile. Bookings made outside the MRFF scheme booking period will be cancelled.   For miscellaneous schemes - E&C Check bookings close 5 business days before the internal deadline. If your booking is less than 5 business days before the internal deadline, we can not proceed with your Eligibility and Compliance Check and the booking will be cancelled. If you're unsure of the last date to book an E&C Check for the scheme you are applying for, please contact the Grants Team. Multiple bookings should not be made for the same grant proposal as this impacts other researchers who are also needing to book an Eligibility and Compliance check. If multiple bookings occur, we will cancel all but the earliest date for the E&C Check in the system. In order to obtain the most value from your E&C Check, we recommend you submit an as-close-to-complete as possible version of your application on your booking date.If you do not submit your application to us on the day of your booking, your booking will be cancelled and we will be unable to complete an E&C Check for your application. For assistance with E&C Check bookings, please contact the Research Grants team via research-applications@newcastle.edu.au
