Hi, I am Sherlay. I am a teacher. I am originally from Haiti, but I have been living in the Dominican Republic for 16 years. Living in the Dominican Republic for Haitians is not easy. We struggle finding jobs, places to stay, or necessary services. One thing that has helped many Haitians in the Dominican Republic is English. My experience is proof of that. I came to the Dominican Republic for a friend's wedding, then I decided to stay to spend my vacation since I finished high school. After a year of vacation, I decided to attend university so I could have a career. I graduated in System Engineering, but what really helped me take care of myself was the fact that I learned English while I was studying at the university. I couldn't find any company where I could apply to get a job in my career, so English was my savior. Once I graduated, I started an online job taking calls in English and Spanish, then I started my teaching business online. Many organizations spend a lot of money on sharing material things with people with fewer resources, but I want to share education with them. I believe if I help them learn languages and combine that with basic computer knowledge, they can have what they need to help them succeed with their efforts. I decided to create a program where I can make different groups of free online classes and select people that really need sponsorship using the donations I receive to pay for more teachers and resources for the class.
