Our vision is to provide appropriate training for schools, communities and organisations so that they become trauma informed and mentally healthy places for all.This means we aim to help children and teenagers BEFORE they get mental health problems – to catch them as they are falling not after they have fallen. Towards this aim we strongly endorse the statement in the Government Green Paper December 2017 Transforming Children and Young People’s Mental Health Provision, “There is evidence that appropriately-trained and supported staff such as teachers, school nurses, counsellors, and teaching assistants can achieve results comparable to those achieved by trained therapists in delivering a number of interventions addressing mild to moderate mental health problems (such as anxiety, conduct disorder, substance use disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder)”. We are appropriately training school staff to take on this task.Our objective is to bring about a whole school /organisational cultural shift where the wellbeing of all is the highest priority. We implement many interventions to ensure the relational and emotional health of all. Our interventions are evidence based with the backing of over 1,000 research studies from psychology and neuroscience.We also believe that for schools to become mentally healthy places for all, the value of well being has to start at the very top, with organisations such as DFE, Ofsted and the Regional Schools Commissioners balancing the scales between outcomes (test scores) and emotional wellbeing. We are working to ensure that there is national recognition of the importance of monitoring the well being of schools and that Governing Bodies, Trust Boards and Directors make staff wellbeing as well as pupil well being a key performance indicator for our schools.团队组成

Kendra has a private practice in Kent, where she works with both adults and teenagers. She also works in a secondary school as an adolescent therapist and as an psychotherapist with the NHS. Kendra is a qualified teacher and previously taught in the USA, then the UK, where she worked with students and families from diverse backgrounds, helping create safe, empathic and inspiring spaces for neurodiverse students through the use of the arts. Following her training as a Play Therapist, Clare gained experience as a Creative Attachment Therapist with an adoption support agency. This introduced Clare to a deeper understanding of attachment theory and early developmental trauma. As well as adopted and looked after children, Clare has worked therapeutically with children in schools who have experienced trauma.Clare is also Co Director for an attachment based parenting programme that uses talking therapy and the creative arts to support pregnant mums and mums and babies in groups. In this role, Clare also trains professionals in infant mental health and maternal mental health. Clare is passionate about supporting families in the perinatal period in order to give babies the very best start in life.Clare has recently pioneered an attachment based parenting programme for Somali speaking mums and their babies and is now working therapeutically with refugee mums and babies.As a supervisor, Clare works with teachers and safeguarding leads, family support workers, therapists and students. She leads group supervisions for trainee Play Therapists for PTUK. Clare has also completed the two day TISUK training on reflective supervision.Clare recognises the importance of good supervision in order to support professionals working with traumatised children and their families. She is a registered member of the BACP.Working in a secondary school for over 13 years provides Leigh with a genuine understanding and appreciation of the pressures and restrictions faced by school staff to meet the needs of their most vulnerable students and the great disadvantage those traumatised children and young people so often experience at school.Leigh regularly delivers mental health training to the primary and secondary schools within her trust, aiding staff to feel confident and equipped in supporting students’ wellbeing and at all times emphasising the healing powers of relational connection through a trauma-informed lens. Leigh provides reflective supervision to key pastoral school staff in her school who are working on the front line with students in distress and to her trust’s Mental Health First Aiders (staff trained to provide listening support and signposting to staff).An experienced Counsellor, Leigh gives 1:1 therapeutic intervention to young people and their families. She took this therapeutic stance back into education, where she has worked in mainstream and specialist education settings across all age ranges, supporting children with a wide range of needs and focusing on those with complex presentations and trauma histories.
She has over thirty years of experience as a therapeutic educator, having been a county Behaviour Support Service Manager, an interim Headteacher and Executive Headteacher, steering schools back to child-centred practice whilst leading organisational and cultural change. A trainer of attachment and trauma-based approaches for schools, she has also worked as an Education and Mental Health Manager for children and young people with autism and complex needs, and as a specialist consultant for a county SEND service.
She now works in private practice as a Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider, delivering this Polyvagal Theory-based intervention to adult clients. As a therapeutic supervisor for TIS UK she offers a collaborative space for graduates of the TIS UK diploma to reflect on their learning, put theory into practice in the workplace and respond to the impact of this important work.

Her approach is to build a safe, trusting relationship, characterised by empathy, collaborative wondering and a lack of judgement. She believes that we all learn, reflect and develop best when we feel comfortable enough to be authentically ourselves, while understanding firsthand that it requires courage to be vulnerable and open. She takes a trauma-informed approach to her work, encouraging an attitude of compassion and respect for what happens to one’s brain and body under stress. Her practice draws on Attachment Theory, neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory, Dan Hughes’ PACE (playful, accepting, curious and empathic) approach and more traditional psychoanalytic thought. She believes some of the fun and fascination of supporting mental health can be found in drawing upon scientific thought in creative, exploratory and imaginative ways. Asma works at the Anna Freud Centre providing support to children and families in Brent as well as in a private practice. She has worked as a therapist in a primary school and, before training, she started her career as an English teacher in a large London comprehensive, so she has first-hand experience of the pressures and level of demand encountered working in a school. She also worked for 8 years as a policy civil servant so understands the additional demands of leadership and management. Asma’s practice is also informed by her love of literature, music, drama and yoga. She is a good cook and a terrible but enthusiastic surfer.

Yalom Isobel is a qualified Integrative Child Psychotherapist, working intuitively through a trauma informed lens. She connects and engages young people with an empathic stance, using the arts, play and a range of different psychotherapeutic models (neuroscience, attachment, emotional regulation, humanistic and psychodynamic approaches). Her main focus is providing a safe environment for young people to feel seen and heard, so they are able to express their feelings and worries, helping them find their voice and unlock their full potential. I am a registered counsellor with the BACP, working with adults since 2016 and continuing to do so since qualifying in March 2019. I am also involved in supporting parent and child sessions with those affected by domestic abuse.Having completed the TIS diploma in March 2020, I trained as a trainer in March 2021 and a TIS supervisor in Sept 21. As a Home Group Tutor, I have supported delegates attending the on-line diplomas, and I have both taken part and facilitated reflective group supervision, experiencing a felt sense of how beneficial this is.Alongside counselling I have 15 years’ experience of working as a Speech and Language Therapy assistant. Creating resources for, and working with, children and young people who have profound and multiple learning disabilities and require alternative ways of communicating which allows their ‘voice’ to be heard.As a Regional Makaton tutor over 10 years, I have had the privilege of training staff, parents, and professionals, mindful of sensitively holding different groups with different needs. I have also worked with frontline agencies and have set up a project creating a resource to equip them in supporting vulnerable people in crisis.I have been involved in different community teams including Street Pastors, Food Bank, and youth projects, and I am currently a volunteer Chaplain with the Police.My vision is to dovetail all aspects of my skills and experience. To offer space to anyone who wants to effect any change where they feel it may be needed, by listening to how things are, what matters, and reflecting this back through the lens of the Trauma Informed approach.

She began training in 2012 at The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education and specialises in the use of the creative arts and therapeutic play.Ellie began work as a teaching assistant, a role which continued during her training. She was fortunate to work across mainstream and special educational needs primary and secondary schools which supported her to gain a real understanding of the pressures faced by school staff. Ellie also has experience within alternative education, having worked providing therapeutic support to children unable to access mainstream education because of complex trauma. She worked for a number of years with an incredible charity and now works in schools and private practice across Somerset.Ellie joined the TISUK family in 2021 and has had the huge privilege of working as a trainer, home group tutor and supervisor since then. Having experienced for herself the challenges working in a school Ellie is passionate about providing safe spaces for school staff to gain better understanding of the children in their care as well as support for themselves to continue the important work they are doing.

He also holds an MA Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring from Plymouth Marjon University as well as a BA (Hons) Youth Work from the Open University. He has worked extensively with disengaged, traumatised young people in challenging situations and developed a Trauma-Informed youth and community organisation which operated across Devon and Cornwall in response to the increasing needs he witnessed. The organisation partnered with local authorities, schools and mental health services to play an important role in the wraparound care of some of the most vulnerable young people in the area.Jeff currently has a private counselling practice in Devon, working exclusively with the adolescent age group. Her interest is underpinned by her life experiences, training, employment and voluntary work.Sylvia has worked in the NHS in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services since 2013 within a variety of services for children and families. Ranging from Parent Infant Clinical Trials, Early Years, Post Adoption, Special Guardianship, Children Looked After, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and Care Leavers.She has also managed school counselling services within Place2Be and worked as a psychotherapist in primary and secondary schools across Inner London. Prior to training as a Child Psychotherapist, Sylvia worked for over a decade in the Homeless Sector in hostels and outreach services across the City providing mental health services to homeless young people and adults, many of whom were Care Leavers and Refugees, experiencing the continued impact of their traumatic experiences and losses, with subsequent mental health difficulties and addictions as a means to coping with their past.Throughout her career, in the background to her work in the UK, Sylvia is also Co-Founder and Trustee of registered charity, School for Life Romania. The charity currently provides supported housing for the former residents of a Neuropsychiatric Hospital for Children in Northern Romania where the beneficiaries grew up as young children experiencing privation, neglect and developmental trauma. Here Sylvia volunteered for several years in the early 1990’s which led to the founding of the charity. Services provided for beneficiaries also included special needs education for three decades until 2024, and previously community outreach. Conversationally fluent in Romanian and with regular trips to the country, Sylvia helps oversee the running of the project in partnership with sister Romanian Registered Humanitarian Foundation, Scoala Pentru Viata, that she also Co-Founded and was Committee Member of until 2006, when the project was handed over to Romanian colleagues.A keen traveller, Sylvia also enjoys immersing herself and learning from different cultures, languages and communities.

As a therapeutic supervisor for TIS UK she offers a collaborative space for graduates of the TIS UK diploma to reflect on their learning, put theory into practice in the workplace and respond to the impact of this important work.
