I love math! And I love getting to know my students and helping them achieve their goals. I'm a credentialed high school math teacher with 14 years of experience, a BA in Math from UC Berkeley, an MA in Teaching Math, and National Board Certification. I’ve taught internationally for 5 years, in South Korea, Taiwan, and France, and I’ve also taught at the College Preparatory School, ranked number one in California and number five in the nation, for 7 years. I served as chair of the math department there for two years before relocating to Phoenix where I taught at Phoenix Country Day School. I have a deep understanding of the learning process and am passionate about working with students to help them strengthen their mathematical thinking. I use an iPad Pro and Zoom to tutor virtually. This allows students to see my writing in real time as we work together. And, I record the sessions so that students can review and refer back to what we learned on their own time. I am dedicated to the success of my students! In my free time, I enjoy birdwatching, discussing philosophy, and spending time with my pets.

A life-long New Yorker, Tim earned his MAT in Secondary English Education at Stony Brook University and his BA in English Textual Studies from Syracuse University.A passion for literary theory drove his studies in undergraduate and graduate work. He also contributed to reading guides and textbooks for several major educational publishing companies during this time. This was academically satisfying but lacked the sense of engagement that in-class instruction offers. He has since taught college writing courses, writing online content, and currently instructs English in a New York public school. Throughout his career, his goal has been to help students frame rational arguments in both speech and writing. This skill transcends the English class and allows students to operate in all professional and academic settings, combining academic instruction and professional preparation.
