During the removal process laser light is applied to the area. The ink particles in your brow absorbs the laser energy, heat up and breaks it up into smaller particles. The body's immune system flushes the shattered ink/pigment in the following days and weeks. Over a series of treatments, the more and more of the ink shatters. Several treatments WILL be required to achieve your desired results. The number of sessions depends on the ink/pigment used, age of the brows, saturation and your immune system. Results vary from person to person.Please note on ethnic skin we cannot laser off colours for example red,green, orange etc. Only black and bluePossible side effects includebut are not limited to, redness, swelling, scarring, blistering, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, scabbing, infections. During the treatment hair near the treated area can temporarily discolor, often white or lightened, die to the laser interacting with melanin in the hair follicles. The hair usually returns to its original color as it grows out. Black and blue ( Carbon colours) removes quicker, depending on the pigment (colour mixes) used, a red or orange colour might be visible after removing the carbon colours, and this is normally more stubborn to remove.I understand that all risks will be minimized to the extent possible but cannot be entirely eliminated. On sensitive areas an oedema may develop but will remain no longer than 2 days. Some spots may lead to a purpura or scabbing that will remain 3 to 5 days after the session. Do not rub, scratch or expose the skin to the sun. Some of their components might be photosensitive or photo fragilizing to the skin.Skin preparationPrior to your session, the skin should be clean. Neither makeup nor fragrance should remain. If you applied essential oils, it is very important that u mention it.During the sessionWe numb the area with ice packs, numbing is not included in your appointment time. You are welcome to numb the area before arriving for your appointment. You can purchase numbing cream from the pharmacy (Emla) or purchase numbing cream from Lillybele (R150). You will feel a warm prickling sensation, it is unfortunately not pain free. There is a light flash that is bright, you will be wearing protective eye goggles.After the sessionImmediately after the session it will feel like sunburn. Swelling, scabbing and blistering can appear but will clear up in a couple of days. There will be redness and it can last 2 to 4 days.Tanning/sunProtect your skin with high SPF and avoid sun exposure, without protection it could lead to post treatment pigmentation.Skincare After the session a soothing Aloe Vera Gel will be applied. Ice the area You should ice the area immediately after your tattoo removal appointment. Apply ice in 1 to 3min increments as this will help alleviate the heat and prevent blistering. Make sure you are not applying the ice directly to the skin it should be in a compress pack to avoid infection. Stay out of the sun If someone experiences improper healing after a removal/lightening/laser session its more often than not due to sun exposure. Staying out of the sun is the most important thing you can do. Exposing your skin to the sun can lead to blisters, broken skin and scarring. Plus getting a sunburn means you have to delay your next appointment, as your skin needs to be its normal colour when getting any laser treatment done. Wear sunblock and cover the treated area with sunblock in the 3 months following your laser sessions, even if it is covered by clothing. Moisturize Moisturizer helps to promote healing and reduce itching and irritation. Aloe vera is the best. Rest and elevate On the day of the treatment limit your physical activity as much as possible. Engaging in strenuous exercise can slow the healing process as exercise can reduce blood flow to the area. If a tattoo is removed/lightened on your foot, ankle or lower leg you should avoid getting a pedicure until your skin has fully healed (laser causes tiny abrasions in the skin and soaking your feet in a pedicure tub could cause an infection). Avoid strenuous exercise for about 3 days or until the tenderness and swelling has gone down.Keep the treated area elevated above the heart as this will help decrease the chance of blistering (very important for removal/lightening that's done on your foot, ankle or lower leg) Shower You can shower 3 hours after your laser session but avoid using high water pressure on the are, as this can irritate the skin. Clean the area gently, rinse and pat dry. Do not soak the area until it is fully healed, as this can lead to infection and scarring. AVOID hot tubs, bathtubs, swimming and saunas. Watch out for skin reactions Itching and blistering is normal. If you get blisters DON’T break them as this can lead to scarring. Instead wait for them to heal naturally. If the blisters are uncomfortable, you can cover them lightly with gauze or any nonstick bandage that is breathable, until it burst on its own.
