Paul Gregori believes the most important lessons students can learn are that curiosity is stronger than embarrassment, that imagination and delivery are both essential to meaningful work, and that people can contribute value long before they receive permission, credentials, or recognition. He is particularly interested in helping students see themselves as active participants in their own education and in the communities around them. This perspective has been shaped by an academic background in philosophy, leading to experience in service, performance, private tutoring, software development, small business ownership, and fatherhood. After moving from Colorado to California in search of improved educational opportunities for his children, he became increasingly interested in educational models built around mentorship, participation, and developing relationships. When the school community that brought his family to California closed, Paul and some of these educators saw an opportunity to build something new alongside the people they most wanted to continue learning and working with.As founder and manager of the Academic Salon, Paul sees his role as helping articulate and share the larger vision of the organization. The part of the Salon’s mission that resonates most strongly with him is the effort to organize education around students’ developing relationships. He hopes to help create environments where students experience themselves as capable contributors whose ideas, questions, and work matter right now.
