Tui Na, or tuina, (pronounced “twee nah”) is a therapeutic form of massage and has been used in China for more than 5,000 years. Defined as “the ancient healing art of fingers and strength,”Clients wear loose clothing. Tui na methods can include soft tissue massage, manipulation, acupressure in conjunction with herbal compresses, ointments, liniments, and heat. This therapy relaxes as well as energizes. The main benefit of tui na massage is that it focuses on the specific problem, whether it is an acute or a chronic pain associated with the joints, muscles or a skeletal system. This is very beneficial in reducing pain in the neck, shoulders, hips, back, arms, thighs, legs and ankle disorders. It is a very effective therapy for arthritis, pain, sciatica and muscle spasms. Other benefits of this massage therapy include stress relief which addresses disorders like insomnia, constipation, headaches and other disorders related to digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems.

Cupping is an ancient modality used to address pain, inflammation, increase blood circulation, immune support, and stress relief.  This form of alternative medicine can be traced bay to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. The cups can be made of glass, bamboo, Pottery/porcelain or silicone. Cupping has been observed to aid in the treatment of blood disorders such as anemia, high blood pressure, migraines, anxiety, depression, allergies and asthma, reducing swelling,  soreness  and pain in the neck shoulders, back, cough and Rheumatism.   You should not receive this treatment if you are on blood thinners, open sores on the area of treatment, very loose skin, high fever, on lower back and sacral regions and abdomen if pregnant.

In Chinese “Gua” means scrape and “Sha” means sand or sediment. The sha is the redness on the skin that indicates extravasation of blood in the deeper layers of skin.  This releases stagnant blood and Qi. When this happens pain is relieved.  The most common areas Gua Sha is applied is the neck, arms, legs and close to joints that feel tire and painful.Gua Sha can address: cough caused by bronchitis, emphysema, asthma and pneumonia abdominal pain, feeling of fullness, congestion or stuckness, from a simple stomach ache to stomach ulcers, gastritis to colitis, diarrhea to constipation, lower back strain or pain, including disk problems, menstrual, uterine, ovarian, Bladder, local pain in the hips,  sciatic pain and more.
