There is wheelchair access to the turtle viewing deck and toilet100% of proceeds go toward the turtles at the Rescue Center. More info on ARCHELON’s Sea Turtle Rescue Centre In 1994, ARCHELON founded the first Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in the Mediterranean and the only of its’ kind in Greece. Located in Glyfada near Athens, by the sea, the Centre is easily accessible by public transport. Injured and sick sea turtles rescued from all over Greece arrive at the Centre, receive treatment by qualified personnel and are taken care of by volunteers from all over the world. When their rehabilitation is completed, the turtles are released back into the sea, their natural environment. Since it was first established, more than 1.000 sea turtles have been cared for at the Rescue Centre, of which more than 50% have been successfully rehabilitated and returned to the sea. ARCHELON -the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece is a non-profit Society for the conservation of sea turtles and their habitats. MORE about the Sea Turtle Rescue CenterIn 1994, ARCHELON, the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece, founded the first Sea Turtle Rescue Center in the Mediterranean, which remains the only one in Greece. More than 50 full time volunteers, from all over the world, support the operations of the Center throughout the year. About 50 residents of Attica per year are helping with the rescue network and education activities as part time volunteers every year.Injured and sick sea turtles rescued from all over Greece are treated in the Rescue Center by qualified personnel and then released into their natural environment. Since it was first established, more than 1.000 sea turtles have been cared for at the Rescue Center, of which more than 50% have been successfully rehabilitated and returned to the sea. 9524 people visited and learned about Sea Turtles and the work of the Rescue Centre in 2019 in special public awareness days. Free admission to the public and short visits are possible every Monday to Friday, 13:00 - 15:00 and Saturday to Sunday, 11:00 - 17:00.
