The Basic Jacket Sewing Course is focused on giving you all the tools required to start creating your own clothes.

You'll be guided through taking your sewing skills to the next level by:

- Gaining deeper knowledge of pattern cutting, its symbology and abbreviations

- Becoming comfortable with garment specific construction techniques and where to use them

- Practise finishing techniques from fast fashion to ready-to-wear quality

2.5 hour lessons every week where you get to work on your own project ideas. It works by you bringing your own project to work through with tutorials and guidance step-by-step with me.

You can also choose to learn about a specific garment. This time I am going to specialising on: Trousers. Self-design options include one of these two waistbands:

- Elasticated waistband

- Belt looped waistband

And for the trouser style you can choose two:

- Harem (baggy crotch)

- Tailored (can be tailored from the knee up, or knee down)

- Flared

If you have designs/patterns to start from, that's great! Otherwise we can brainstorm or look through the TNSS pattern library for designs and patterns that suits you. I will then create a pattern for you to start from. We will work through:

- Altering patterns to your measurement & style

- Adding details such as pockets

- Full construction You work at your own pace and will be given help and tutorials individually whilst working and sharing together in a group setting.

You'll also have free access to our Sunday open days from 12.00-18.00 to use our sewing machinery and space for this & other projects. With some sewing advice but not tutorials or walkthroughs.

In 36 hours, you'll learn how to drape like a designer, hanging and pinning fabric together to sculpt your design in real time.
___________________This course is suited for a wide range of skill levels. At the minimum, you must be comfortable sewing straight lines on the sewing machine. But you can also be a professional, or a confident sewist, looking to expand into a new specialism designing with drape.

In this 10 week pattern-making course, we're teaching you how to pattern-cut a made-to-measure basic block for a skirt, top/blouse, and trouser._______
At the end you will have the basic knowledge to begin pattern construction for a wide range of garments using personal measurements. You will also have the tools to alter ready-made patterns to your measurements and preferred style. Giving you a great freedom of personal choice and creativity.

Shingo Sato’s “Transformational Reconstruction Technique” is a combination of flat patternmaking techniques and three-dimensional draping techniques at the dress form. The pattern maker becomes the designer with intuitive, artistic and innovative methods. The main objective is to dismantle boundaries and rebuild without limitations.
