Mrs. Vicky Gocher BA (Hons) PGCE, MA Headmistress of Aldenham Prep School

Vicky Gocherhas more than 30 years as an education professional and specialisesin educating girls and boys aged from 3 to 13. She was educated in London and Wales, before taking a degree in English Language and Literature at the University of Hull and then undertaking a primary PGCE at Roehampton Institute. She completed her MA in Educational Leadership and Innovation at Warwick University. Her Primary PGCE means that she is qualified to teach across the full breadth of the curriculum; this mirrors all that she believes education at Prep level should be. The pupils who leave her School are well-rounded individuals with curiosity about life, the confidence to live it and the capacity to keep learning so they are ready for the next stage of their lives. Vicky was previously Deputy Head at CaterhamPrep School, before being appointed Head of Aldenham Prep School in 2011. She has responsibility for all operational matters in the Prep School including budget, curriculum, pastoral care and the management and development of the teaching and administrative staff. She leads the Prep School strategy and is part of the Aldenham Foundation Leadership Group. She has driven initiatives such as the introduction of Singapore Maths, gaining Eco-School Silver status and the next level of Learning Outside the Classroom status, working towards Gold Arts Mark accreditation, and gaining the Artsmark. Vicky has also overseen the addition of specialist sports facilities and is an integral part of team leading the creation of a brand new Aldenham Prep School UK, building and grounds.

Mr. James Fowler MA (Oxford University) Headmaster Aldenham Foundation

James was educated at Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood –one of the 12 original English Public Schools -and become Head Monitor in 1981. He then studied a degree in Theology at New College, Oxford and held the post of Choral Scholar, singing in the Chapel Choir andperforming with them in concerts and recordings across Europe and the USA. After leaving Oxford, James worked as an Account Manager in advertising agencies, beginning his time at Publicis working on L’Oreal, Lancomeand Boots before moving to Saatchi and Saatchi working on the national Electricity privatisationprogramme. His time in advertising allowed him to gain a deep knowledge of client management and marketing skills. He decided to becomea teacher in 1991 to share his passion for learning and quickly rose to positions of responsibility in his first school in Cardiff. He was Head of the Faculty of English and Religious Studies, as well as being responsible for planning the move of the School from one site to another. In 1999 he was asked to take up the post of Head of Sixth Form at Brentwood School where he had responsibility for the academic and pastoral leadership. His time as a Deputy Head at Highgate School from 2002 to 2006 coincided with the School’s move to become co-educational after 400 years as a boys’ only School and enabled him to utilisehis skills in change management to oversee this major development. He arrived as the 32nd Headmaster of Aldenham in 2006 and has been able to see the expansion of the school. In that time the School has grown significantly in popularity with waiting lists for each point of entry as well as greatly enhanced facilities. He has enabled the School to grow in confidence and to establisha reputation as one of the leading UK schools offering balanced all round education for all its pupils.
