This course provides delegates working in Social Care with a good understanding of some of the main conditions and illnesses that affect people who use adult social care services.

This course really is a must-have for anyone new to care, however, we have also found that experienced social care staff can gain new information with tips on how to support people with these conditions. It can act as a reminder of the why’s, do’s and don’t’s of supporting people with these conditions in a person-centred way.

Group discussion and shared experiences are of real value in this course.

This course covers the core and mandatory training for social care staff that should be refreshed annually (except for Assisting and Moving and Emergency First Aid which can be booked separately). 

Annual refresher training in these subjects is the gold standard in social care and is advised by Skills for Care.  Training in these subjects can be linked directly back to the Care Quality Commission KLOEs of Safe, Effective, Caring, Well-Led and Responsive.

This course refreshes delegates’ knowledge in assisting and moving people, and moving and handling objects; as well as refreshing knowledge of key elements of emergency first aid in social care.

Skills for Care recommend learning is refreshed for these subjects at least annually.  The Resuscitation Council (UK) note that skills in subjects such as CPR training decay within 3 to 6 months after initial training.

Refresher training in these subjects will assist you in complying with the CQC Fundamental Standards (Safety) and the KLOEs Safe and Effective.

We recommend this course for anyone who has had previous face-to-face training in these subjects and needs to keep their knowledge refreshed. For employers, if you are not sure when your staff were last trained in these subjects or if their training was online we suggest booking them on our First Aid for Social Care and Assisting and Moving People and Objects first. This course would then be suitable as an annual refresher going forward.

This course constitutes 6 hours of Continuous Professional Development for entry onto your own CPD log.

This course covers the core and mandatory training for social care staff that should be refreshed at least every 3 years. Delegates would ideally have completed the Care Certificate or be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 standard as this course will refresh their previous learning.

Refresher training in these subjects will assist you in complying with the CQC Fundamental Standards in Safety, Person-Centred Care, Consent, Food and Drink, Dignity and Respect, Complaints and Good Governance. (KLOEs Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, Well-Led).

This core and the mandatory course provides delegates working in Social Care with the training, knowledge and understanding of how to deal with First Aid emergencies. The course content covers most of the first aid emergencies that you might come across in Social Care, however, this course will also qualify your staff as a First Aider at Work, depending on your own workplace First Aid Hazard Assessment.

For employers, completion by your staff of this course will support completion of the Care Certificate (Standard 12 Basic Life Support) and meet the requirements of the CQC Fundamental Standards in Safety (KLOEs Safe and Effective) as well as fulfilling your legal obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations for First Aid at Work.

We recommend this course for anyone new to care and any experienced staff member new to your organisation. Additionally, this course will suit anyone in your team who you wish to become a First Aider at Work in your care setting.

This essential course provides delegates working in Social Care with a full understanding of the Regulations around assisting and moving of people (manual handling), the workings of the spine and the importance of a good position. This 1-day course teaches delegates how to carry out assisting and moving procedures and transfers, with safety and dignity being at the core.

We have also included Moving and Handling of Objects in this course to ensure all of your staff including housekeepers, laundry assistants, kitchen staff and maintenance teams are trained in safe practices of lifting and carrying.

For employers, completion by your staff of this course will fulfil your legal obligation to comply with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations and CQC Fundamental Standards in Safety (KLOEs Safe and Effective).

We recommend this course for anyone new to care and any experienced staff member new to your organisation. Additionally, this course will suit anyone in your team who is required to move and handle objects in the workplace, particularly in a care setting.
