Hi everyone! This weekend I will be offering 30 minute and 60 minute registered massage therapy appointments. My approach is patient-centered and informed by pain science; in other words, each treatment will be tailored to suite the individual person's health history, goals and massage preferences.  I have been practicing massage for 10 years and in 2022 was voted runner up in the Stars of Vancouver Best Massage category. I often incorporate Swedish massage techniques, deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point release, neuromuscular technique and stretching into my massage treatments.  Some reasons you may choose to opt for massage this weekend: to increase relaxation, improve sleep, decrease feelings of fatigue or anxiety, relieve headache symptoms, relieve perceived muscular tension, decrease perceived neck and back stiffness/pain. In this lecture, our midwife Anu Pillav, who started working as an assistant in the maternity department of ITK and today works in the Pelgulinna Maternity Department as a midwife, talks about the physiology of childbirth, ways to cope with labor, the use of water during childbirth and different methods of pain relief. In the lecture, you will get a complete and comprehensive overview of childbirth, Anu clearly outlines the actions that are performed and how childbirth is monitored in the maternity hospital, combining advice and tips for you on how to help and support yourself during childbirth.Currently, this lecture is only available in Estonian, however, you can cover the topics in English with our midwife via our private family school appointment.

In this workshop, our midwife Anu Pillav brings together midwifery and yoga, teaching you to use movement and body relaxation techniques in the different stages of childbirth. Anu teaches techniques on how a partner can support you during birth, thereby helping to make the birthing process more comfortable and safer. The aim of the workshop is to increase the self-confidence, independence, and readiness of you and your partner for childbirth.Please make sure to wear clothes that are comfortable to move in, so that you can practice different techniques on the spot.Participating in this workshop requires that you have completed the first birth preparation lecture at CARÁ or a birth lecture in Pelgulinna/  ITK.Currently, this lecture is only available in Estonian, however, you can cover the topics in English with our midwife via our private family school appointment.
