E-bikes are available for free hire ONLY to residents of Midlem village and their guests. Only residents can take and return bikes (the code must never be shared with anyone) and the Midlem resident will be responsible and liable for their guests’ use of the bikes. By making a booking you are agreeing to the all the terms and conditions.To ensure bikes have time to re-charge between bookings, we’re currently doing full day bookings. You’re welcome to collect and return the bike at any time on the day you have booked. You will receive an automated confirmation email after booking, follow links in this if you wish to cancel or change your booking. Any faults or issues with the bikes should be reported to Tom by whatsapp/text message on 07792 051657.The secondary contact for e-bikes is David H-J on 07857 766023. Tom and David work full time, so please do not expect to always get an immediate reply. Tom is only able to help maintain bikes in evenings and weekends when available.Bike 2 is currently not in service but we will add it back to the system when fixed A bike lock is provided (in addition to the bike lock built into the bike itself) and a high visibility vest is available for use if you wish. Helmet, gloves and personal insurance are not provided.TERMS & CONDITIONS: · You are personally responsible for ensuring you have sufficient competency to use the e-bike safely and consider yourself competent to cycle an e-bike:· · I understand what items on the bike need to be checked prior to use· I can balance on the bike· I can brake safely· I can use correct hand signals· I can understand and will observe the provisions of the Highway Code· You will not take a bike without first making a booking on this website.· You will store the bike when it is in your possession in a secure place, making use of both sets of bike locks to maximise security.· You will not share the combination code with anyone, in any circumstance.· You are responsible for your own safety. You do not have any medical condition or disability which impairs your cycling ability. You understand the importance of wearing a cycle helmet and high visibility clothing.· You will carry out a pre-use safety check· If you leave your bike unattended at any time, you are responsible for ensuring that it is secured with the bike lock provided, via the frame, to an immovable fixture (e.g. lamppost or secure bike stand).· You will ensure when you return the bike you plug it in for recharging.· You will follow the below instructions. COLLECTING THE BIKE:The Bike shed is behind the village hall (it’s the shed closer to the hall). The entry door is the one on the side of the shed, nearest the hall. The padlock and key safe codes have been shared with village residents by email.Inside, the light switch is on the wall on the right side of the door.The four bikes are laid out at ‘docking stations’ numbered - 1 2 3 4Each 'station' has a numbered socket on the wall. 1 & 2 are on the left wall and 3 & 4 are on the right wall.Each 'station' has a hasp on the floor for the D lock to secure each bike.Each bike has a numbered hook on the wall for the bike bag (yellow jacket, bike manual, etc).There is a key safe on the wall to the right. To open - key in the number and turn the handle. To lock, shut the door and turn the lock. All bike keys should be stored in the key safe at the numbered space 1 2 3 4Unlock the lock on the bike and the D-lock on the floor. You may wish to take the D-lock with you on your cycle if you are going to stop and need to secure the bike. REMEMBER TO TAKE THE KEYS FOR YOUR BIKE WITH YOU.Turn off the Battery charger at the socket and disconnect the charger from the bike - the cable can remain at the side of the shed – make sure the switch is off at the wall.Perform the ‘M Check’ bike checks (this is printed on the wall and explained in this Sustrans film clip - tinyurl.com/3s8t4sf5).Take the yellow jacket if needed from the bike bag.You are ready to go! Lock the shed using the padlock and remember to turn the numbers to lock.Make sure you have your own cycle helmet. RETURNING THE BIKE:· Clean your bike with great care and attention, prior to returning it to the shed. Please do not wash your bike with a hose or pressure washer. Remember it has a battery!· In the shed, on the shelf, you will find cloths and sprays to clean the bike. You can do this either inside the shed or outside before you take the bike in. · Check the bike over, as per the ‘M Check’ list on the wall.· Note in the Bike Group book any issues to report and message Tom on 07792 051657.· Replace the bike in its 'docking station' and padlock it to the floor and engage the bike lock too (key on key ring).· The locks provided need to be used if insurance cover is to be valid. The lock needs to be passed through an enclosed part of the frame, not just the wheel.· CONNECT THE BATTERY CHARGER FOR THE BIKE AND TURN IT ON.· Give the bike a final wipe with an anti-bacterial wipe. These are located on the shelf. · Place the bike keys back in the keysafe and lock the key safe
