The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides medical care to all age groups with mental health disorders and/or chemical dependency disorders. The PMHNP also provides diagnostics and therapeutic psychiatric services to SLANP Health Center consumers, while making reasonable and sound psychological/psychiatric assessments and treatment plans. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing sound medical care, supporting, developing and/or applying the treatment/service plan, and facilitating compliance. Serves as a member of appropriate interdisciplinary treatment team.
Certification/Qualifications:

Valid Mississippi Nurse Practitioner license;
board certified is required
·
Valid Mississippi RN license
·
Accepted or eligible to be accepted by all major
insurances
·
Minimum of one-year experience as a Psychiatric
Nurse Practitioner
·
Current MS Driver’s license and clean DMV record
·
Experience and demonstrate understanding of
substance abuse and mental health issues
·
Management experience
·
Experience and understanding of confidentiality
laws and expectations
·
Well-organized and detailed-oriented
·
Excellent written, verbal, and telephone skills
·
Ability to handle a variety of tasks
simultaneously with a problem-solving approach
·
Demonstrated sensitivity to and experience
working with persons from diverse ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
Additionally, sensitivity to issues of sexual orientation, gender
identification, homelessness, and individuals with disabilities

Demonstrate
ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions,
age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and
geriatric), limitations, and planned procedures
