“Family life is our first school for emotional learning” (Goleman, 1995). At SAIS –AB, we believe that when parents are emotionallycompetent in their relationships; they are more capable of helping their children work through their emotional challenges. We also know that many parents, and especially new parents, are not sure about their parenting abilities, styles, and need support on how to deal with their children. The school provides focused groups to parents to attend, exchange ideas, and learn from each other.

In individual counselling, our counsellors work with clients one-on-one to identify current challenges, finding personal strengths, and assist clients in developing skills and strategies to help manage and cope with these challenges.

Relationships Aren't Perfect Like individuals, couples have their own problems and issues that take time and energy to understand and work through. While attempting to sort through issues with more than one person seems daunting, it's doable. It is not uncommon for couples to experience challenges in their relationship. If you're experiencing troubles in your relationship - you're not alone! Every couple has experienced a fight over something in the past, and will continue to encounter problems going forward.

West Kildonan Wellness Counselling Services offers addiction counselling to help people manage their substance use problems. Our goal is to ensure that clients feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe so we can get to the root of the problem. We hope to achieve with clients a reduction in their anxiety, stress, or depression related to their addiction that is negatively impacting someone from attaining their future. What ever the client may be going through, our goal is to have everyone leave their sessions feeling confident in their vision for a better future.
