A helpful call for any early stage company.Cannabis-industry companies especially need guidance with crowdfunding.  In a Section 4(a)(6) funding (The Securities Act of 1933) the funding portal must use a bank or broker-dealer as an escrow agent.  The crowdfunding portal, also known as the intermediary, is not allowed to touch the cash that is invested.  It all goes to a qualified escrow agent until your minimum targeted investment is met and when escrow breaks, the portal receives a nominal commission. And therein lies the problem for companies that want to raise money from the crowd.  Some of the escrow agents are banks that will not accept your business.  It is a little harder to get started, but it can be done.  Book an expert and see how you can raise money from the crowd.  This funding is equity-based funding.  You sell securities to the crowd, and they become investors in your company.  It's not like the donation ones, where the crowd is throwing away money for a cute idea or a good cause, without the benefit of upside or a tax write-off.
