Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of complaints and to maintain well being.How does it work and what effects does it have?Acupuncture stimulates the body to heal itself. Research has shown pain relief correlates to increased endorphins in cerebrospinal fluid – showing that the body has manufactured its own ‘opiates’ for pain relief and healing. There may be changes in temperature and muscle tone. Generally there is a ‘normalising’ effect so that if a person is tense they will relax and a person who is lethargic will feel more energised. Both methods are safe and efficient and are carried out by our expert audiologist.Irrigation is most commonly used by GP surgeries, and in this procedure the wax is washed out of your ear with water. You might have heard this method being called "syringing" (although no syringes are involved!).Microsuction involves a small tip being inserted into your ear canal and the wax being "vacuumed" out. It is often a quicker method than irrigation, but can be much noisier.During your appointment your audiologist will examine your ears and will discuss your symptoms with you.
