Joint MSKUS - Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is a safe and effective technology, which utilizes sound waves to assess the function and possible pathology affecting peripheral nerves as well as different joints of the body, such as the elbows, knees, shoulders, hips, wrists, ankles, and digits.  Musculoskeletal ultrasound is noninvasive and offers real-time imaging, allowing for examinations of structures at rest and in motion.This ability to capture the movement of musculoskeletal components differentiates it from other imaging modalities and can permit more accurate diagnoses.  Plus there is absolutely no radiation involved!Ultrasound is an easy, reliable and safe test.  Our team of licensed, certified providers, will work in close cooperation with the patient and ordering physician to ensure the most comfortable and effective experience possible to pinpoint the source of your pain. 

NCV/EMG - Nerve Conduction Velocity Study (NCV) and Electromyogram (EMG) are two separate exams.Usually done at the same time to assess the nerves and muscles of the body. The most common locations where the study is performed, are on the arms, hands, legs, and feet, as well as directly on the back and neck.  The NCV portion of the exam involves placing small sensors over the path of peripheral nerves, and administering a mild, electrical impulse to the nerve in order to record the response and test the integrity of the nerve. The EMG portion of the exam measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerves control the muscles in the body by electrical signals (impulses), and these impulses cause the muscles to react in specific ways.  A small acupuncture like pin is placed into the muscle during this exam and allows us to evaluate the condition of the muscle as well as its connection with the peripheral nerves.
