Kayla Chanel Dean is an Atlanta, Georgia native that will receive her bachelors in Chemistry from Spelman College and Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in May 2019. During her time at Georgia Tech, she has been afforded the opportunity to participate in numerous academic, professional and social opportunities such as landing a dream job with ExxonMobil in Houston, Texas, serving as an Undergraduate teaching assistant, conducting crystallization control research within the School of Chemical Engineering, and sharing her love for Georgia Tech as a student worker with the Transfer Admissions Team.
Understanding how Georgia Tech’s motto of “Progress and Service” could apply to her matriculation there, she began to find herself growing beyond measures in the realm of knowledge and experiences. One thing that many people do not know about her is that during her college years, she served as a Teachers Assistant for many subjects in the areas of Math and Science. She is very passionate about helping others succeed to their highest capability within their educational journey. She employs unique tactics and tools to effectively present material and help others comprehend and succeed.
In 2019, Kayla started a full-time position in the Base stocks and Specialties Business Support Group with the ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company. She has been able to contribute to many Capitol projects within the Basestocks Group over the last two years. She hopes and prays that she will continue to make an impact on others’ lives as so many have helped her accomplish all of her achievements.
