Hilary Doyle began the first iteration of NYC Crit Club in Summer of 2017 before partnering with Haggarty in the Fall of 2017. Doyle is an artist, curator, gallery co-director and teacher. Rose Nestler (b. 1983 in Spokane, WA, USA) lives and works in Brooklyn. She holds an MFA from Brooklyn College. Nestler has exhibited in the United States and internationally, including exhibitions at König Galerie, Projet Pangeé, Public Gallery, Fisher Parrish, Hesse Flatow, Thierry Goldberg and BRIC. Leeza Meksin is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist. Meksin has recently created site-specific installations for The deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum (2019-20), The Brooklyn Academy of Music (2018-19), National Academy of Design (2018), The Uptown Triennial at The Lenfest Center for the Arts (2017). In 2015 Meksin received the emerging artist grant from the Rema Hort Mann Foundation, and in 2019 was awarded an artist residency at The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. In 2013 Meksin co-founded Ortega y Gasset Projects, an artist-run gallery and curatorial collective in Brooklyn that she continues to co-direct. Meksin received a MFA from The Yale School of Art, a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA/MA in Comparative Literature from The University of Chicago. From 2015-2021 Meksin taught in the Visual Arts program at Columbia University’s School of the Arts, where for three years she was the Director of the Graduate program as well as the head of the New Genres concentration. Deanna Evans is an art curator and dealer who opened their new exhibition space in Tribeca in January 2022. Amanda Nedham completed her BFA at OCAD University in Printmaking and her MFA at RISD in Painting. She currently works and lives in Brooklyn, NY. Her studio practice is interdisciplinary with an emphasis on drawing and installation. Nedham is interested in collapsing the monumental and the mundane through radical memorial gestures, with a current emphasis on communing with the dead.

Lauren Whearty is a painter, educator, writer, and curator based in Philadelphia, Pa. Lauren is a contributor to Philly's Artblog, and is a Co-Director at OyG Projects, an artist-run curatorial collective in Brooklyn, Ny. She has recently exhibited at Gross McCleaf Gallery, Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, Deanna Evans Projects, Artport Kingston, Dorrance H. Hamilton Gallery, and was recently commissioned to create a painting for Philadelphia Museum of Art and Mural Arts in response to “Matisse in the 1930s”. Norm Paris is an artist, curator and teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. He was a 2020 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts and was previously a 2015-16 resident at the Sharpe Walentas Studio Program. Currently a Professor at Rhode Island School of Design, Paris previously taught at the Yale School of Art. He is also a founding member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York. He has exhibited in New York at venues including Ortega y Gasset, The Proposition, Transmitter, Monya Rowe Gallery, The Jewish Museum, and the Children’s Museum of the Arts. His work has also been featured at Kopeikin Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), SCOTTY (Berlin, Germany), the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, The Print Center (Philadelphia, PA), The Museum of Drawings (Laholm, Sweden), and the Weatherspoon Art Museum (Greensboro, NC). Paris received a M.F.A from the Yale School of Art and a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Kara Rooney is an interdisciplinary artist and critic working in performance, sculpture and new media installation. Her visual work has been widely exhibited in international and domestic venues including Fridman Gallery, NY; TOTAH, NY; Driscoll Babcock Gallery, NY;  A.I.R. Gallery, NY; the Chelsea Art Museum, NY; the Jersey City Museum, NJ; the Montclair Art Museum, NJ; the Pera Museum, Istanbul, Turkey; El Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico, MX; and the Karamay Museum of Fine Arts, Xin Jiang, China. Haggarty co-founded NYC Crit Club with Hilary Doyle in the Fall of 2017 at Abrons Art Center and has been a co-director since. Catherine Haggarty, b. 1984, is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Haggarty earned her M.F.A from Mason Gross, Rutgers University in 2011. Currently, Haggarty is an adjunct professor at The School of Visual Arts (SVA) teaching a Seminar in Drawing Theory/History, European Painting, and Non-European Art Histories. Haggarty’s paintings and curatorial work have been reviewed by and featured in Hyperallergic, Bomb Magazine, Two Coats of Paint, Brooklyn Magazine, The New York Times, Maake Magazine, Art Maaze Magazine, Art Spiel, Sound and Vision Podcast, The Black and White Project, Curating Contemporary’s book Eraser, and Young Space. From 2016 to 2019 she was a co-director of the artist run space, Ortega y Gasset in Brooklyn NY and has curated serval exhibitions.

Loren Erdrich (b. 1978) lives and works in New York City where she is currently represented by SHRINE gallery. Her undergraduate degrees include a BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in 2000 and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, IL in 2005. In 2007 she received her MFA from the Burren College of Art at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Erdrich has participated in many exhibitions including Harper’s (East Hampton, NY); Massey Klein (New York, NY); Nicodim Gallery (Los Angeles, CA); Superzoom (Miami, FL); Guts Gallery (London, UK) and Herrero Tejada (Madrid, SP). In 2023 she presented a solo exhibition at SHRINE gallery (New York, NY) following a two-person presentation at The Armory Show in 2022. Her second solo exhibition with the gallery opens June 2024. Erdrich has also been awarded residencies at Yaddo; Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency; Jentel Foundation; Santa Fe Art Institute; Sculpture Space; Vermont Studio Center; and Art Farm Nebraska. Her work has been written about in publications such as Cultured; DNA Mexico; FAD; ArtMaze; Maake; the Chicago Tribune and Il Giornale Dell’Arte. She frequently collaborates with the poet Sierra Nelson, coauthoring the award winning I Take Back the Sponge Cake (published by Rose Metal Press, 2012) and Isolation (limited edition artist book, 2020), and in 2021 she collaborated with the fashion designer Marc Jacobs to incorporate her paintings into their Resort line.
