Hi! I’m Alex and I am a counseling intern at the UNYP counseling center. I am originally from Moscow but I have lived abroad since I was 10 so I speak both English and Russian fluently. I have completed the UNYP/ESC bachelor’s program in psychology and I will get my master’s degree from UNYP this upcoming summer. I am currently in training to be certified for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) at the Moscow Institute of Psychology so my approach is based primarily on CBT. I am also an intern at the Czech Academy of Science’s Psychology Department under Dr. Paillereau, helping her in her research on psycholinguistics in young children. I am most interested in DSM 5 Cluster B personality disorders and anxiety disorders. I am also quite knowledgeable in gender and LGBT-related issues. 

I believe that each client gets the best counseling if our sessions are tailored to each one of them individually, being adjusted to their specific wants and needs. With proper commitment to getting better and enough time, any psychological issue can become tamed and eventually conquered. I am looking forward to our first session!

Some topics I am interested in are anxiety, trauma, and surviving narcissistic abuse or emotional abuse, but everyone’s individual story is really fascinating to me.

Hey there, I'm  Abdollah, a counseling intern at the UNYP Counseling Center. Born in Iran and raised in Dubai, I moved to Prague nearly a decade ago. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and am presently pursuing my Master's in Psychology at UNYP.

Outside the realms of psychology, I wear a pilot's hat, working both as a flight instructor and an informal counselor. Over the years, I've provided guidance to numerous international students transitioning to new cultural environments. This has given me invaluable experience in assisting individuals coping with culture shock, homesickness, anxiety, and the unique stressors faced by students abroad and particularly the stress of being a student and having a roadplan towards the final goal.

My approach to counseling is holistic. I blend theoretical knowledge with practical solutions to ensure meaningful outcomes. I have a particular fondness for schema therapy and believe that with a foundation of trust and commitment, we can navigate and overcome any challenges you may be facing. My primary goal is to assist you in surmounting any obstacles and to ensure your well-being.

Hello to all, my name is Yaryna, and I’m a counseling intern in UNYP, further continuing my pursuits in the field of psychology after starting a master’s degree. I am from Ukraine, and originally arrived in Prague as a war refugee, but eventually made a decision to make the best out of my stay here. In addition to that I have already undergone my first internship in the Agency of Migration and Adaptation AMIGA where I’ve worked as a neuropsychologist's assistant and helped throughout the developmental lessons with neurodivergent children and teenagers coming from Ukrainian refugee families. That’s why I would be glad to offer a helping hand to anybody struggling with integrating into the new country and culture as I know from personal experience what it might feel like.

Otherwise my main field of interest is animal assisted therapy, and my internship this summer has partially included helping out at the equine assisted psychological rehabilitation events for Ukrainian soldiers. In the future I aim to use the method to support people dealing with heightened stress levels, anxiety and traumatic experiences. My approach to counseling would be best described as integrated, with a heavier accent on CBT and gestalt therapy, as I attempt to incorporate the most fitting methods depending on the client’s needs. My main goal would be tackling whatever problem or struggle you may be dealing with and providing all the guidance and encouragement on the way to the outcome you wish to achieve. Currently, I am immersed in my master's program in Psychology at the University of New York in Prague (UNYP).

Over the years, my unwavering dedication to the counseling field has driven me to pursue comprehensive training. I've immersed myself in specialized programs focusing on Family/Couple Counseling and Sex Therapy, each providing unique insights and practical techniques. Additionally, I have delved deep into the world of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach known for its pragmatic solutions to various psychological challenges. Beyond these training, I have also honed my expertise in psychological assessment, particularly with the renowned Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). I have finished a training in crisis intervention, and I am currently attending a course known as “Psychologist in Healthcare”. I did several internships at psychiatric hospitals including inpatient care at a Psychiatric hospital in Olomouc, then at the National Institute of Mental Health, where I took part in a day treatment program for individuals with psychosis, and at the Bohnice psychiatric hospital, specifically in the acute secure unit for men. Currently, I work as a junior counsellor at a clinic. 

As far as my interests are concerned, I've always been drawn to the profound questions about the meaning of life, our purpose, and the choices we make, which is why I am mainly interested in existential psychology. Beyond that, I'm also quite enthusiastic about the world of psychedelic research, as of now. I, myself, am working on a qualitative study, for my master thesis, focused on ketamine assisted psychotherapy. In addition, I am intrigued by personality disorders, interpersonal relationships, and I have a good understanding of anxiety disorders.

Hello, I’m Éva. I am a counseling intern at the UNYP counseling center and I am finishing my studies in the psychology master's program at UNYP. I am Hungarian but I live in Prague for 8 years already.

My approach as a counselor is primarily centered around Person-Centered (Rogerian) counseling, which is a method that fosters a safe and accepting environment. This setting allows you to freely express your needs and emotions, encouraging you to address and work through your struggles.

Hello! I'm Isabeau Heinrich, a German native and Third Culture Kid raised in China, now based in Prague. Currently pursuing my psychology master's at UNYP, I specialize in counseling for addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My counseling practice focuses on Third Culture Kids (TCKs), individuals like myself who grew up in a culture different from their parents'. I am a Junior Counselor at the UNYP Counseling Center. I graduated from the UNYP Bachelor and Master’s in Psychology programs. Currently I am attending psychotherapy training at Hermes Training Solutions and working on my Ph.D. in Psychology at Charles University. 

I've been working at UNYP Counseling Center for several years now. Additionally, I have done training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy. I am also deeply interested in yoga and meditation and its effects on one’s body and mind.

I believe every mind is beautiful and every issue is solvable. During counseling sessions I will do my best to collaboratively work on finding the solution or the way toward your goals. I also use CBT techniques to improve your healthy thinking and behaviour and Solution Focused Therapy to help you find the best way to approach the situation.
