This course will cover concepts associated with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).  Dental professionals are included entities who must take steps to protect their patients' health information. Dental practices must update their notice of privacy practices, create written plans, conduct a risk assessment, update business associate agreements, understand how to prevent breaches, and have protective processes in place to address a breach, should it occur. This document is meant to be a summary of key elements of HIPAA rather than a complete or comprehensive guide to compliance.

This course designed to meet the implicit bias training requirement for health care & dental care professionals.   To become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive, many professionals have turned to unconscious (implicit) bias training.  This course raises awareness of the mental shortcuts that lead to snap judgments, which often is based on race and gender, about people’s character. 

LARA states:  Implicit Bias training, beginning June 1, 2022 and all renewal thereafter healthcare licensees seeking renewal must complete 1 hour of implicit training for each year of the applicant’s license cycle, for the first renewal on or after June 1, 2022 licensees will only need to have 1 hour for each year.

This course is designed to meet the human trafficking training requirement for health care professionals. Human trafficking is a rapidly expanding crime in which law enforcement and governmental agencies are making strides to cease and contain. This course will provide a comprehensive background of this crime and help dental professionals identify potential human trafficking victims by learning how to recognize a possible victim.

Participants of this course will be presented with information to review and update their knowledge of infection control in a dental setting.  This course is to provide the participant with tools and knowledge to provide a safe working environment for both patients and dental health care personnel. In addition, specific guidelines to follow for LARA requirements.

One hour in infection control, which must include sterilization of hand pieces, personal protective equipment, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's infection control guidelines. NOTE: The new requirements must be met before any renewal on or after April 26, 2022.
