It is an area of intervention in physiotherapy with a main focus on the pelvis, lumbar spine, hips, pelvic floor, and dysfunctions associated with, but not exclusive to this area of the human body. The main goals of my practice are:- To improve the function, tonus, strength, biomechanics of the pelvic floor, pelvis, and surrounding joints/tissue- To help with strategies to manage and control pain- To improve urinary and intestinal health (from the physiotherapy point of view)- To improve quality of life - To promote a healthy lifestyle and improve the habits of physical activity- To help women get in touch with their bodies (creating awareness) Physiotherapy will have an important role in helping with treatment, daily strategies and quality of life in this kind of issue/dysfunctionBirth preparation (pelvic girdle and pelvic floor preparation for birth, birth positions, hips, pelvic and lower back mobility, strategies for pain management)Pregnancy-related pain: Pain during pregnancy or after giving birth (neck/shoulders, wrist; Lower back, hips, pelvis)Low back pain or pelvic pain during pregnancy or after birthDiastasis recti / an abdominal gap that persists after giving birthPelvic or vaginal pain(POP) pelvic vaginal prolapseConstipationUrinary or fecal incontinenceC-section or perineal scar Hysterectomy Painful sex, vulvar pain (dyspareunia, vulvodynia / vaginismus), anorgasmiaChronic pelvic painEndometriosis What happens in a Women’s Health/ Pelvic Appointment? In this appointment, you can expect an individualized, thorough assessment considering the history, details of symptoms (pain, discomfort, dysfunction), and specific questions to help understand the problem. The physiotherapist will take a complete history of your bladder and bowel function, sexual function, and medical and surgical history. Your pelvic floor might be examined during the assessment if it is indicated (not mandatory and upon informed consent of the patient). EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process and heal from trauma and distressing memories. It was developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s and is based on the idea that traumatic experiences can become "stuck" in the brain, causing ongoing emotional and psychological distress.During an EMDR session, the therapist helps the client focus on distressing memories while engaging in a form of bilateral stimulation, most commonly through guided eye movements. This process is thought to facilitate the brain’s natural healing mechanisms, allowing the person to reprocess traumatic memories and reduce their emotional charge. As a result, individuals often experience a decrease in the intensity of negative emotions associated with the trauma and are able to integrate the memories in a more adaptive way.EMDR has been shown to be effective for a wide range of issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, phobias, and grief, offering a powerful tool for healing and emotional regulation.

A karyotype test is a genetic screening tool that analyzes an individual’s chromosomes to detect abnormalities in their number or structure.
