Ballarat Lyric Theatre is currently accepting audition bookings to cast our 2022 production of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT The Musical

Auditions: 4, 6 & 7 February, 2021, at O'Collins Hall (beside St Patrick's Cathedral) Cnr Sturt & Dawson Streets, Ballarat.

Callbacks:

Rehearsals: Tuesdays & Thursdays 7-10pm and Sundays 1-6pm (starting with the Meet'n'Greet/Rehearsal on Sunday 28th February, 1pm)

Performances: 15-25 July, 2021 at Her Majesty's, Ballarat. 

Production fees: All cast members will be required to pay production fees. More information is available upon request.

Please read the following information carefully before booking your audition.

Auditionees for character roles and senior cast must be at least 16 years of age on or before Opening Night (15 July, 2021).

Auditionees for junior cast must be at least 12 years of age at the time of auditioning.

Arrive warmed up and ready no more than 5 minutes prior to your audition time.

Be prepared to have fun and show us what you've got.

Prepare 1 song in the style of the show that showcases your voice.
NB: Singing songs from the show is not permitted.

No Acapella

This will be held in a group format and run for approximately 60 minutes on Saturday, Feb 6, 2021, at 2pm.

ALL senior cast auditionees must book a singing AND dance/movement audition.

SINGING AUDITION 

Prepare 2 contrasting songs in the style of the show that showcase your voice.
NB: Singing songs from the show is not permitted.

Provide your own backing tracks (CD, USB or phone/AUX) or sheet music for your audition.
NB: Sheet music must be emailed to lifeofmusic68@gmail.com AT LEAST 3 DAYS BEFORE your audition.

No Acapella

All auditions are 10 minutes. 

You may be asked to sing 2 songs. If you are stopped before you finish your song, it is no indication of the success of your audition.

It is most likely you will only sing one song, do not be disappointed if the audition panel doesn't ask to hear your second song. Again, this is not an indication of the outcome.

A dance/movement audition must be booked by ALL senior cast auditionees.

Choose either Saturday, Feb 6th or Sunday, Feb 7th at 1pm.

This will be held in a group format and run for approximately 60 minutes per session.

Please wear appropriate dance/exercise clothing that you can move in easily.

Auditions are never as scary as you think they are going to be! But you can do things to make them slightly easier!

We guarantee that everyone on the panel has been in your shoes before and understands how you might be feeling.

Choose songs that you really enjoy and know well.

Sing in several different places before the audition day.

Sing to some other people before the day.

Wear comfortable clothes that you think you look good in.

Come into the audition with high energy ready to try anything new. (You may be asked to try something you think is silly, how you react to requests tells the panel about you as a potential cast member)

Show the audition panel your strengths and enjoy showing them.
