This qualification is for those undertaking the role of a workplace first aider, but will also be working on forestry commission land. The Level 3 Award in First aid at Work +F (RQF) has been developed to meet the Forestry Commission First aid requirements, and the first aid requirements under the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. (NI 1982). It is for those working on Forestry Commission land who require a First Aid at work qualification with added forestry content. The qualification includes practical elements undertaken in an outdoors environment. Candidates need to be capable of performing first aid skills in these outdoor environments.

The recommended course duration is 3 days and topics covered include: the roles and responsibilities of the First Aider; assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries, anaphylaxis, catastrophic bleeding, fractures, and Lyme disease. The qualification is assessed via on-going oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration.

All successful students will be issued with a First Aid at Work + F certificate, detailing their achievement. The HSE dictate, that to be valid in the workplace, learners must retake the First Aid at Work + F qualification before the expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved. If no more than one calendar month over this 3 year period, you may qualify to take the course again in two days rather than three. We call this our ‘requalification’ course. You must give a copy of our original certificate to your instructor to qualify.
