Birth Essentials (1 Day)
Our Birth Essentials Workshop has been designed to provide you and your birth support with practical, positive and realistic information and tips for your labour and birth experience.
This ONE-DAY programme is taught by Registered Midwife Lucy who works closely with Sydney’s leading Obstetricians. Lucy knows from working in Sydney’s public and private maternity system how unpredictable labour and birth can be and how important it is to understand your options. She is passionate about limiting the unknowns through education, ensuring you feel confident and safe during any type of birth. Her hope is that you enter your birthing experience with an open mind and are equipped with realistic expectations that allow for the ever changing nature of the birthing process.
It is recommended to take part in the Birth Essentials Workshop between 28-34 weeks of pregnancy.
In our workshops we will move through the following points in detail:
Gaining & developing an understanding of the birth processUnderstanding what to expect in the last weeks of pregnancy Recognising the signs of labour Knowing when to call the hospital Knowing the different stages of labour and what to expectRole & importance of the birth supportExplaining all pain relief options Educating and preparing for other birth scenarios – instrumental birth and caesarean section Induction of labourWhat to pack in your hospital bag Setting birth intentions & your birth spaceInformation suited for both public and private model of care.

Infant Feeding and Parenting (1 Day)
To complement our birth preparation courses, we offer an infant feeding and early parenting workshop. We understand how important it is not only to prepare you for your birth experience, but it’s crucial to prepare you for your new life. Starting a family is exciting but can also be a time of worry and doubt. At Birth and Beyond Education, we are passionate about preparing you using evidence based information to help improve your confidence before you embark on this amazing new challenge.
Our Registered Midwives will ease the transition from pregnancy to parenthood ensuring you have a good understanding of your choices, your baby’s needs and your emotional and mental health.
We recommend taking part after a birth preparation course around 32 –36 weeks.

You may have been advised to have a Caesarean section by your care provider and whatever the reason for this, we want to guide you on your preparation journey. At Birth & Beyond Education, we are very passionate about ensuring you have a positive experience, no matter what type of birth you have. Everyone should be educated antenatally to know what to expect even if you are planning a caesarean section.
This workshop is designed for you to understand the process, ways we can ‘normalise’ a caesarean and for you to meet other couples on a similar journey. We also include Infant feeding & Parenting in the price to prepare you for the transition into parenthood.
