Project Description: Pawz for Thought Community Pet InitiativePawz for Thought, in partnership with Sunderland City Council, is delivering a series of bi-monthly community pet welfare events aimed at improving animal wellbeing and supporting responsible pet ownership across the region.These events will provide free microchipping services, helping pet owners comply with current UK legislation while significantly increasing the likelihood of lost pets being safely reunited with their families.In response to the growing number of stray and surrendered animals across the UK, Pawz for Thought will also offer a limited number of neutering vouchers for cats at each event. This initiative is designed to help reduce uncontrolled breeding, alleviate pressure on already overburdened animal shelters, and address the ongoing issue of unhomed cats being born in the community.Additionally, the events will include free basic health checks, offering guidance on both behavioural and medical concerns. This service is particularly aimed at supporting individuals and families who may face financial barriers in accessing veterinary care, ensuring that more pets receive timely advice and intervention.Through this collaborative initiative, Pawz for Thought aims to promote preventative care, reduce animal homelessness, and strengthen community awareness around responsible pet ownership.Nossa equipe
