TASTER CLASSES - ONE DAY WORKSHOPS

Duration: 3,5 h. (Group split in two. One part handbuilding, one part wheel throwing)

Get your hands on some clay during this one day taster class! Sign up, just for a fun day, or to get a better picture about doing a full ceramics course or throwing course at Pansa. Have a taste of how it feels to work with ceramics. 

During this class the group will be split up in two. You’ll be making a mug (or anything it might become) by hand building techniques and you will have a go on the pottery wheel. 
Halfway the workshop you change to the other teacher and focus on a new technique.

In the handbuilding session, you will be making one item that will be glazed and fired for you. 
On the potters' wheel you will learn how to centre and pull up your first shapes. You won't be keeping anything from these first attempts on the wheel, but you will have a great taste for a future course.

At the end of the workshop you can choose your glaze for your handbuilt piece. It will be glazed and fired by us, and ready for you to pick up after about 3 weeks.

We are super excited to introduce to you our handbuilding course!
In 4 weeks we will guide you through the first steps in handbuilding. You will soon be making your first sculptures or functional objects to for example eat or drink from!

We love handbuilding and we think it is the best way to get acquainted with the material; clay. With the right techniques you are able to make smooth and aesthetically appealing shapes, and you are free to sculpt and go free form.

From the first class you will be taught a variety of handbuilding techniques. In the 2nd class you will start oin your own project and in class 3 you will work towards finishing at least one object. We will bisque fire that for you and in class 4 you will be able to glaze your own piece.

A maximum of 2 pieces is included in this course. (....match with firing guidelines)

This class is taught by Isabelle Olson (https://www.instagram.com/iz_olson/). Isabelle is an amazing ceramics artist and knows best how to create complex shapes. She is both skilled in handbuilding and on the wheel. She won’t ask the same standards from you, but she will be able to help you with all technical and artistic questions.

After this course, for those who feel confident and wish to continue by making and experimenting by themselves, you can sign up for a membership at Pansa. You might already be able to start with this during the course. We will guide you in these steps. Many of our former students became makers and now use the studio as full time members.
