This 4 week class is designed to discover and capture the love of creativity.  Artwork from history (Such as Van Gogh and Monet) will be used as inspiration for your children's new artwork.  Design elements such as balance, contrast, pattern, value, and color will be visited as your child grows his or her drawing skills and enjoys the process of creation.  EACH CHILD WILL BE GIVEN A SKETCHBOOK and will be encourage to practice their skills during the week to show the teacher at the next lesson.For the month, each class will be building upon the specific Theme of that month.  ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE CLASS.

This 4 week class is a setting for exploration of your child's abilities.  Your child will be taken at his or her current level and taught principles of design to improve upon drawing and perception.  Attention to detail, shading, and proportion will be touched on as they explore their abilities and enjoy creative expression.  Artwork from history will be used as inspiration for creativity and discussion in the classroom.  Your child will be taught how to take his or her art to local competitions if so desired.For the month, each class will be building upon the specific Theme of that month.  ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE CLASS.

Each week during the month, personalized instruction will be given according to the skill level of the artist.  Preparation for entrance into art programs at colleges, ateliers, and other schools often requires a portfolio.  The teenage years are a good time to prepare for future jobs in the visual arts as well as have the competitive edge at state fairs and other art competitions.  We will continue to develop the artist's understanding of the principles of art, which are the building blocks of good design.

4 weekly lessons in a month package. Students will be given instruction and training in the elements and principles of art in each lesson. They will be given the opportunity to explore different mediums such as: pencil drawing, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. Each student will also be given an opportunity to copy a classical master during the course of the year, as they progress. In addition to learning art, they are learning how to plan, design, follow through, discuss their ideas, help critique others, and display their work. They will have an appreciation for good taste and a visual memory of what is beautiful and inspiring. These qualities translate to many other aspects of their development and future success, whether they continue in the visual arts or not.

Both classrooms will be concurrently utilized for this 14 week class. The smaller room for younger/beginners, and the larger room for advanced children/teens. There will opportunities for students to practice their understanding of materials such as pencil, pen, charcoal, pastel, and chalk. Instruction will be given with regard to the elements and principles of art. Students will be given individual projects and attention as needed.

14 weekly 1.5 hr lessons and introductory materials are included in the price. Students will be given the opportunity to explore different mediums such as: watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. Each student will also be given an opportunity to copy a classical master during the course of the year, as they progress.

Students will be given individual projects and attention as needed.

When we remodeled this space, we added large 4ftx4ft skylights to each art room. The abundance of natural light makes it a perfect space away from home for practicing and honing your talents. We have 4 dedicated spots in the large classroom available as space rental when the studio is open. Included are personal cabinets (to keep your supplies for the duration of the rental), an easel, and a shelf/stand (for setting up a still life or your computer for reference). We also have a small library of artist reference, anatomy, and art technique books at your dispense. OPEN STUDIO HOURS ARE FROM 9AM-12PM ON WEEKDAYS (EXCEPT FOR WEDNESDAYS). Spots are rented for 3 months at a time at a rate of $45/month.
